Happy belated Graduation day!! I am so excited for you and Tucker, Jen!! Glad he isn't itchy anymore and the Temeril P worked and he is now on a taper. Hopefully once he is more used to freedom while you are home, he will get the idea of asking to go outside to potty once again.. His freedom is still new to him and he's been through a lot. He'll get there..

Tucker is really enjoying his new freedom. I had a wonderful woman drop off carpet scraps at my house today. Tucker is doing awesome with all the rugs around now. He is walking a lot stronger with them. Not 100% but doing great. I will get pics as soon as I can. thank you all so much!!

Love the pictures of Tucker, and his kitty pals Oliver and Sophie! Tucker looks so steady and wonderful! Tyler likes his carpet samples too. They really do help!

I'm really sorry I haven't so inboard lately. My sister just got the news she is having a baby. Now she wants to rush in a wedding before the end of the year. I've been going crazy trying to set some things up and plan a bridal shower. Tucker is still doing great!! The accupunctureist said she really is hopeful that he will have a normal gait again. His rear legs just seem to have a mind of their own. Does any one know how to slow him down a bit and get him to think about just walking and not being in such a rush? He hops and walks very quickly almost jogs. It's cute but he just needs to use them properly. thanks!

Oh boy, you do have your plate full with all the exciting planning!
I would just try to do leash and harness walking as PT with him as many times a day as possible….3x a day? PT is walking slow and with deliberate placement of the paws so the body can practice walking in correct form. You might have to do the walking in the hallway so there are no distractions as there might be outdoors?

Hi everyone, I've been so busy lately with my sisters wedding and shower this coming Sunday thank God! Tucker has been doing great! We still do accupuncture once a month. The Dr sees small improvements every time we go. He is walking almost normal now. He has also lost 3lbs! Yay Tucker. We go for short walks every night and he really enjoys them. He is still itchy and we are doing all we can to ease it. I hope the weather changes for him soon. Just wanted to give an update an apologize that I haven't been around much.

Thank you Linda, he is doing so good. We are very cautious on the activities he does now. He is actually learning he can't jump up on things and "asks" to come on the couch and bed while we are there. He knows he can't do stairs too. Being we have a staircase to come in and go out he knows he can't do it

I'm so glad to hear that Tucker is doing so well, Jen! And yes, they do learn to accept their "new normal". Enjoy the wedding!

I am so happy to be a part of this. Tucker had a vet appointment tonight for his annual check up. It was the first time back there since I wasn't to happy with my vet about IVDD. Dr. Tuthill was very happy Tucker was walking. While we were waiting to go in to the room tonight a woman with a Bulldog and her husband holding their Standard Doxie came out of the exam room. While talking about what Tucker went through with someone the woman asked how old he was. I told her 5-6. With tears in her eyes she said that's what's going on with our Doxie. I didn't have my brochures on me but I wrote Dodgerslist.com on my business card and told her she needs to check it out. I also told her that she needed to get her baby on crate rest ASAP! We chatted a bit. I comforted her and told her it's not the end! She was so thankful! I swear I was like ment to be there for her. It felt so good to help someone face to face. I thank everyone here for all the knowlage I now have! It was a great feeling to help someone that that is wearing the shoes I wore months ago!

Bless your heart for being there for for that woman and her Doxie. It does feel good to give comfort and knowledge all at the same time.. We have learned so much here, haven't we? Hope she joins us soon!
You never know who you might reach at just the right time.. I've handed out the Dodgerslist cards at Walmart when one of the Cashiers was reading my Dodgerslist Tshirt and she told me about the symptoms her dog had.. I had the Dodgerslist cards in my wallet and gave her one.. Also at the laundromat, someone approached me after seeing my shirt and I gave her info.. Tyler's groomer is always asking for more brochures, and I dropped more off to her not long ago and to Tyler's new local general vet.. People that need Dodgerslist are all around us.. It;s just a matter of finding them..
Glad to see you!

Jen, it does feel good, doesn't it. I always have something Dachshund on, a ring and/or a chain with a dachshund medallion so I get a lot of people asking me. I've given out brochures to the surgical nurse who was getting me ready for surgery and to the physical therapy girl. Sometimes things will go wrong at one place we are trying to do business, so when we go to another, there is someone there with a Dachshund. When I give them one of the brochures or cards, I always tell my husband that must have been why it didn't work out at the first place. Maybe we just saved a life.
Better start carrying the brochures or our business cards. <g>

I will definetly carry them! They are in my wallet now:) This was such a good heartfelt experience for me. It's like I was meant to be there. I know what she is going through and it really is scary. I totally felt for her.

Jen, maybe tell your vet when he has a dog with IVDD to give out your number.
