Thanks Pauliana. Tucker feels so much better after his bath. He has been resting ever since. I didn't even think if bumpers until tonight. I wish I did earlier. great idea for conservative treatment.

Tucker took 4 perfect steps today at the accupuncture Dr. She wanted to see how he has progressed. Yay Tucker!!! She said she really can't wait for the day that I walk him in rather than in his crate

It's been a journey as you all know. I thank you all for the support and knowledge this site had given us. Without it I don't know where Tucker would be in his recovery. Euthanasia was never an option for us. His progress is all because of all of you! My accupuncture Dr. Said today she finally got the chance to read the brochures I gave her on IVDD. She said there is great stuff in there! She was very happy with his steps today. Every week he gains more strength with his walking. He just needs to be reminded those legs are there and to use them in the right way again. ❤

2 more days of crate rest!! I am so exited and so is Tucker! Accupuncture tomorrow. He may have to go back on prednisone for his awful allergies she has another thing too that is an antihistamine and steroid combined. Not sure what will be best. I feel so bad that he is so itchy he is on Benadryl 3xs a day 25mg and it doesn't seem to help as much as is like The vet said I'd was safe for him to have it 3xs. He is scratching himself raw in some spots

Graduation day is so close for Tucker! I know how awful allergies can be. Jeremy is allergic to the whole world. Have you spoken to the acupuncturist about the allergies? They might be able to focus on that for a bit to help him through this rough spot.

Countdown time! It won't be long now until celebration time!! Sorry to hear about Tucker's Allergies and hope it's under control soon. Tyler is also having the same problem.. Not sure if it is environmental or food related. Benadryl helps some.

Thank you both. I have talked to my accupunctureist about it. Last visit she did do some laser for his skin but it didn't help to much its just that time of year. The food Tucker is on is one we found a while ago that has worked well for him. He is on Taste Of The Wild Salmon formula. he was on Orijin 6 Fish but its tough to find. I might have to have my pet store special order that for me. They carry it but Origin being from Canada and the fire the plant had its been tough to get. Its the best on the market other than raw. I was feeding raw to Brodie but when We adopted Tucker he didnt take to it well. I think it's the season starting to change. It was 100+ degrees a couple weeks ago here in NY and now all of a sudden it's barely 80. I'm sure it's seasonal. I will keep you updated on what we decide to do for his allergies with the Vet.

Tucker is now on Temaril-P for his allergies. It's a steroid with antihistamine. Not sure the mg. he is back on Pepcid with it too. So far it seems to be working. He is resting good. No scratching! Yay!!

Lol..Jen you and tucker have come so far! Sounds like tucker is finally getting some rest. Fred got really stinky so I would pet him with paper towel made damp by dry doggie shampoo. The first week's were rough because he had diarrhea and vomitted all over himself I hope the medicine keeps working). Yay tucker!!!

It was funny because she said if this didn't work then I can call my other Dr for the cortisone shot for his allergies. And she said that... I interrupted and said a washout period of 7 days and she was like I don't even know why I tell you you all ready know lol. I love her she is great. She even has the IVDD brochures right in her room to give to people

Jen, Duncan took the Temparil -P for his allergies and especially the time he was scratching. It worked well for that. Glad to hear you are giving the Pepcid with it.
Happy Graduation Day Tucker - Enjoy your freedom but be careful and remember there are new norms now.

Congratulations!! I'm so happy that Tucker has graduated. Hate seeing dogs crated up and love it when they get out. You did what was best for Tucker, Jen - he's a lucky dog to have you on his side. A pat on the back for you and a hug for Tucker.

Thank you all. It's been quite the adventure with Tucker. I've had him out a couple times tonight. With the allergy Meds he feels great. No more scratching! just a little bit. He hasn't walked as much as he tries to run around and he is doing great. Still wobbly but can keep himself up while he gets around. I try to keep him on the carpet where he can get his footing. Once he gets a little crazy I put him back in the crate. I don't want him to do too much to fast. We haven't been able to put ramps up yet so we have to watch him like a toddler so he doesn't try to jump on the furniture. I'm so happy we did it! Yay Tuckie we did it!!!

Congratulations! Tucker doesn't know it but he needs a gradual re-introduction to physical activity so he does not overdo things and get sore! LOL

Tucker is doing really good. He is no longer itchy from allergies. We are starting the taper from Temeril-p tomorrow to once a day for 4 days and then every other day. He walks really good on the carpets in the house but not so well on the wood floors. I posted on Facebook I'm looking for carpet scraps to fill in the wood parts if not ill call a couple places to see if I can get some. His right side seems to be a little weaker than the left. He is loving his new freedom ( only when we are home). We have been having a bit of an issue with him pooping. He was letting us know in the crate but now it just seems like when you got to go you got to go. He just goes whenever. It's a normal stool firm and easy to clean up. It's always been that way. I really hope I don't have to go through potty training with him. Maybe a few more out times will help. He is a happy boy!! I've been thinking of a cart to just give him a little more of an advantage with his getting around. Walking wobbly really tires him out. Any thoughts on that?

I would wait on the cart since he is wobbly walking. Start with a program of incrementally building up his muscles…he is going to get stronger and better able to get about… just will take time from couch potato to walking about guy! I'd do the PT walks with him in the morning when his body is freshest. A sling if need be to keep his back aligned. Send pictures!!! We want to see.
