Stevie,... Thank you so much for the reply,.. LittleFoot has had NO Prednisone since Wednesday. Ever since Thursday with the incident of the pill, I have had issues on getting any pill down him. But I will be calling the vet/seeing them tomorrow.. I know the Dr said no Livercheese, but at least I got a 1/4 tab of Tremado down him, along with Carafate (Liquid) and a Pepcid. And more food..
But I know I read on here about excessive licking,Ugh... because of the disarrhea issues..as well as the urine, I been filling the tub up a little way and the warm water seems to sooth him, as well as clean him up, his rear is raw and I am sure, sore.
So... vet visit tomorrow to see what I can do now, seeing he is stubborn on taking meds, and it is a miracle I got down him what I did, and he ate. But I got his stroller, and he thinks that is sharp when he realized he can be next to me.

One of our Moderators, Marjorie, uses cooled green tea to clean up after pottying accidents - alot of members have had great success with it Neuralizing urine and getting rid of odour. Happy to hear that he likes his stroller - they still want to be part of the action don't they

Green tea may be fine to be able to wipe..this is not the wipeable kind, it is a full blown case of runny diarrhea, that no matter how much I have wiped, it is in his fur. One last dose of Carafate down him.. I will be relieved when tomorrow comes and we see my vet again.
Back to reading more of all the links..determined to master the expressing..but Lord help me.

Cera, anytime out of the crate is a dangerous time for the healing disc. Try to avoid taking him to the tub, a wet dog may want to shake, and a wet dog is slippery an accident to the disc waiting to happen. Try a damp washcloth to remove what you can. The green tea will help too.

Paula, I realize that, I ALSO know I am MORE concerned with his diarrhea for the last 5 days STRAIGHT days. This went from Brown, and forming, to PEA GREEN and water. It changed to a yellow/brown..still..water type poop (Secretory), that when he poops, it runs all over the place. No amount of using baby wipes, nor washcloths help. His fur is a solid lump of dried poop if I do not at least clean his bottom once a day the right way
Please give me some credit, I do not fill the tub, place him in there and walk away. He is not left unattended, nor do I give a full bath. I place him in a tub filled with some water, on a mat, my arm fully under him. Not fully cleansing an area filled with poop, with open sores also leave the area open for bacteria and infections, something I do NOT need. he goes from the tub, in my arms to his crate, where I pat him dry. Then he either sleeps or watches me.
I am more concerned over the other issue, which I will address with my vet, if I do not like the answer, I have 2 other vets..I appreciate the concern over the bathes, but I am MORE concerned with his overall health, and unless I clear THAT up, his body will be too busy fighting that instead of centering on his back.
And considering overall he has been just about pill free, he is alert, playful, And at least eating Chicken and Rice or turkey. Or getting mad at me, yanking his pee pad out, tossing the pillow to the other side of the cage, turning his back on me and going to sleep when I dare try to get him another pill..lol
Nothing else, he is as stubborn as I.

Unfortunately, Cera, we as moderators never know what someone does or doesn't know. So we have a duty to each and every member to give them the best advice that we can give. If we didn't mention the dangers of bathing a dog going through an IVDD episode and we learned that the dog had slipped and caused further injury to his back, we would be devastated.
You are certainly correct to be very concerned about the diarrhea. The side effects of anti-inflammatories can be very severe and dangerous. I believe you had said that you would be seeing the vet today so we will be on the lookout to see what the vet recommends.
Blessings to you and LittleFoot.

Cera, how is your baby doing? I totally can relate with your situation, having one paralyzed dachshund and another 1 month IVDD surgery post-op. You have the vet background and skills to see your boy thru this so hang in there! I know many don't advocate diapering but Walker (ironic name, huh?) does great in my own combo of a drag bag, size 4 Huggies overnight diaper with hole cut for tail, ang my "redneck" belly band consisting of one feminine pad w/ wings attached to a rolled bandana then tied around the top of the diaper, tucking all into his drag bag. Walker will always be paralyzed and both of my furkids went thru a state of disbelief, for lack of a better "non-humanizing" term.....they were depressed and in shock! But now Walker tools around the house, getting everywhere he wants it go, fast as any 4-legged dog. They adapt and you learn more about them. It's really profound how they adapt and we can learn from them little signs of what they need or want. Don't forget extra "scritches"around ears and face, since they can no longer do this for themselves. You'd be amazed at the appreciation when you get that spot they can't!
