However according to X-ray and the pain flare-ups the vet is leaning towards IVDD ( 3rd one since March of 2023) I thought he was having seizures because each time the flare up has occured he's woke up out of sleep, howling, and can't use his back legs. After about 2 hours and a steroid shot he's back to normal. Except with this last one. Its been almost 48 hours and his back legs keep going out from under him. I'm currently in the process of making a Recovery Suite. Also, i have a referral to a Neurologist in Woodstock,GA on Monday 7/17/23. A general (Dawson Forest Animal Hospital in Dawsonville, GA)

Hi Krystal,
Welcome to Dodgerslist. You've come to the right place to get the information you'll need to help Winston recover.
When did Winston begin having these episodes of pain and loss of leg control? Is he eating and drinking normally? Can he pee and poop on his own?
It's good you're putting him on strict crate rest. Here is a link to help you set up a suite for him.
To prevent stomach upset from the meds, we recommend you include something to protect his stomach like Pepsid. Check with your vet to be sure they are on board with adding this medication.
It's good that you have an appointment with veterinary neurologist tomorrow, but time is crucial if surgery is the recommended course of action. Is it possible to see the neuro today?
In the meantime, keeping Winston calm is key. Make sure his activities are restricted to in crate time and going out to potty. No laps, stairs, jumping, or play with you or other pets in your home. You'll hear from others here on the Forum as Winston's journey to recovery begins.
