subject line: My Dachshund Camper had surgery for ruptured disc
Camper had surgery 18 months ago. They told us he won’t walk again! We have worked and worked with him. He is walking now but his right back leg folds under as he is walking. I was wondering if there is a brace to help hold the leg so it doesn’t fold! He wabbles when he walk and then the legs goes in. I give him comands and he gets up and walks so more.

Lorie, your surgeon would be the best person to prescribe if a brace would be a good thing or hinder Camper's ability to improve his gait.
Has Camper used underwater treadmill therapy to help him strengthen his muscles and perfect his gait. Very useful therapy if you've not investigated it for Camper.
The movement of the hip joints and muscles and the changes in pressure on the paws from the underwater treadmill triggers spinal cord communication with the brain. Water bouyancy makes it easier than leg movements against gravity. There is not only the potential to regrow damaged neuronal pathyways but also for neuron to muscle re-education to learn the art of walking again.
