[Original subject line:Ghost, Dachshund mix, 6 years old, 2 week post-op ] QUESTIONS ☆ 1 Is there still currently pain? YES, dog yells when picked up or moved ☆ 2 22 lbs Age? 6 100 mg trazodone 3 times a day 20 mg pregabalin 3 times a day
☆ 3 -- List any red flag signs of stomach damage. Not eating, vomit, loose stool, bleeding ulcers, red or black blood in diarrhea. Full appetite but has diarrhea for last 24 hours ☆ 4 Dachshund mix, Ghost, Blake ☆ 5 diagnosis IVDD YES, Neurologist ☆ 6 SURGERY? 9/14/22 post-op rest? 4 weeks -- home PT? At home for now
☆ 7 Having difficulty expressing bladder, went back to vet for second demonstration and tech said bladder empty when we left, Ghost immediately started leaking on me on the car ride home. I cannot feel bladder and cant express at all or only gets small amounts of urine out but he leaks what appears to be full bladder when laying down in crate.
Overflowing bladders need to be expressed to avoid UTIs. Review video. Then get a hands-on-top-of-your-hands expressing lesson at the vet. dodgerslist.com/2020/05/05/bladder-bowel-care/
☆ 8 Ghost can’t feel deep pain in back legs.

Blake, if there is current pain of yelling when having to move or picked up, call the vet right now and get the pain med adjusted so there is NO pain dose to dose of pregabalin.

Blake, advise vet of diarrhea. --- is it due to having changed his food, that can cause temporary stomach issues. --- Had Ghost been on any anti-inflammatory such as a NSAID or a steroid these weeks of post op rest? --- is there any red or black blood in stool? That requires stomach protection of Pepcid AC marvistavet.com/famotidine.pml, maybe sucralfate marvistavet.com/sucralfate.pmlstill writing......

Blake, expressing is a new skill you are learning. Take Blake back to the vet when you know he has had a drink of water about 30-60mins before getting a hands on top of your hands type of expressing lesson. Review the expressing tips and also the video for different techniques in hand placement during expressing and placement of dog's body. Note you can also express for poop.
