Sasha, welcome to the Forum. Let us know which country you are in. There can be differences in the way dates are written and differences in treatments/meds and of course the matter of time zones from the Forum in New York, USA. With you reporting current pain, it is clear why. No pain meds have been prescribed for known painful disc episodes! ASAP, phone your vet to advocate for pain meds! Resolution of spinal cord inflammation/swelling provides the relief from pain. It can take anti-inflammatory Metacam a range of 7 to 30 days before all painful swelling is gone. IN the mean time pain meds are a must!
The best pain medication control is using more than one approach to address pain from multiple fronts -- traMADol-general analgesic -- methocarbamol- muscle spasm pain -- gabapentin-nerve pain). --All three pain meds need to be prescribed three times a day as pain meds are effective for 8 hrs. -- Advocate for the three pain meds plus a stomach protector such as Pepcid AC (Famotidine) to protect against increased acids Metacam causes. For how many days is Jossie to take Metcam? -- Learn about Metacam. An informed owner is a dog's best defense when taking an anti-inflammatory. Learn what your job is, how to arrange for a Plan B with your vet. Let us know when Pepcid AC (famotidine) is on board for 9.9kg Jossie: 10mgs famotidine every 12 hours. Understand the importance of protecting the stomach lining: dodgerslist.com/2020/05/06/stomach-protectionLet us know you ARE doing the necessary STRICT rest to allow the disc to heal. With pain medications to mask pain, dogs will not be in pain and want to be more active. So it is up to you to restrict your dog’s activity for them. i.postimg.cc/3rLH7g7X/320still-healing-disc.jpg ** STRICT rest means: - no laps - no couches - no baths - no sleeping with you - no chiro therapy - no dragging or meandering at potty times. POTTY TIMES for dogs who can still sniff and pee Carry to and from the recovery suite to the potty place and then allow a very few limited footsteps. Using a sling (long winter scarf, ace bandage, belt) will save your back and help to keep a wobbly dog's back aligned and butt from tipping over. A harness and 6 foot leash is to control speed and keep footsteps to minimum as you stand in one spot. An ex-pen in the grass is an excellent alternative to minimizing footsteps with the physical and visual to indicate there will be no sniff festing going on! ★7 Brain controlled "peeing" OR reflex "overflowing"? Can your dog: 1. Specifically sniff and squat and then release urine (bladder control)? 2. Do you find wet bedding or leaks on you when lifted? Indicator signs of an overflowing bladder (loss of control). Manual bladder expressing is necessary for health reasons. Review first before going to vet to get a hands on your hands expressing lesson: dodgerslist.com/2020/05/05/bladder-bowel-care/★8 Describe what you observe currently about neuro functions. Can your dog.... -- wobbly walk? -- Move the legs at all? Such as to reposition inside the recovery suite? -- Wag the tail when you specifically do some happy talk or show her a treat? We look forward to hearing that pain meds are on board early Saturday morning Sep 22 before vet closes for the weekend. Pain hinders healing...have no patience at all with pain.
