I'm needing some advice please. We are in the US. Please don't judge, he is my world and I do everything that I possibly can for him. Surgery is just not an option right now for me.
Diesel goes back to see his neurologist [9/10] next Saturday. I was told previously that he has degenerative disc disease. He was diagnosed with Lyme's 2 years ago Christmas causing his encephalitis to return for the 3rd time which brought on his wobble. He does not jump, he is carried out to pee, etc.. He basically rests other than to eat and pee. His medication includes Atopica 25mg 2x daily. He is an 8 pound mini daschund. He is 13 years old.
[MED LIST/HISTORY- Moderator's Note. Please do not edit 8 lbs 13 y.o. 12/2021 encephalitis-caused wobbliness Atopica (cyclosporine) for dermatitis ]
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I would love to get him a stroller, one that would be comfortable for him and not flop him around. Can anyone please recommend a reasonably priced one for us? Thank you all in advance. Kim and Diesel ❤️

Kim, welcome to the Forum. could you clarify if currently Diesel is suffering with a disc episode. A current disc episode take 8 weeks of strict rest from the date of the diagnosis for the disc to heal. STRICT REST for a disc episode means: The hallmark component of conservative treatment is the very STRICT crate rest part (no PT, little movement). With little blood supply discs are much slower to form good scar tissue than it takes a blood rich broken bone to heal. Those weeks of a cast for a broken arm to heal is similar to the recovery suite being a kind of cast for the disc. 100% STRICT crate rest 24/7 for 8 weeks provides limited movement to allow good strong scar tissue to form. ▶︎ Super tried and true tips for setting up the recovery suite, the mattress and more during the 8 weeks of strict limited movement of the back (spine)! dodgerslist.com/2020/05/14/strict-rest-recovery-processSTRICT REST: ◼︎no laps ◼︎no couches ◼︎no baths ◼︎no sleeping with you ◼︎no chiro therapy WHYs: dodgerslist.com/2020/04/22/chiropractic/ ◼︎no meandering at potty times. ◼︎no PT for conservative dogs during 8 weeks to heal disc ◼︎ avoid dangerous detours. Vet visits must be weighed risk vs. benefit for dogs with little to mild neuro diminishment. POTTY TIME strictness Carry your dog to and from the recovery suite to the potty place and then allow a very, very few limited footsteps. Using a sling (long winter scarf, ace bandage, belt) will save your back and help to keep a wobbly dog's back aligned and butt from tipping over. dodgerslist.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Potty-leash-harness400-19kb.jpgWhat are ALL of his medications beside Atopica (cyclosporine) for dermatitis? Name of each med. how many mgs is the dose? how often given? If on an anti-inflammatory drug, what date did it start?
What kind of vet Rx'd the anti-inflammatory (a steroid or a non-steroid NSAID)? Is all pain fully controlled round the clock if this is a disc episode?Once we can understand if Diesel is on STRICT rest for a disc episode or if he is NOT having a current disc episode, we can best recommend a stroller. Tell us the degree of wobbliness. Can he walk without a sling assist. Or does he need you to sling walk him. We look forward to you filling us in so we know best how to give a helpful comment.
