[Original subject line:Prince William ] William and his brother Harry are
13-year old brothers that we rescued in 2012. William is a b
lack-and-tan dapple who is experiencing
back discomfort. These boys are not our first dachshunds. Our first boy, Frankie, had severe IVDD. His hind end was paralyzed. We went through unsuccessful surgery and PT with before he went completely downhill and passed away.
We
crate rest the boys (we call them the Princes) at the first sign of reluctance to move on their part, and this has proved a good strategy for the past 10 years.
However, the issues William is
having now [date?] are similar to what we experienced in Frankie’s early days of paralysis.
Is there still currently pain?
X. reluctant to move much in crate such as shift positions or slow, ginger movements
X. shivering, trembling is currently occasional; however, he is a nervous boy, and he
trembles when anxious also.
X. tight tense tummy -
comes and goesX. Arched back when walking. Back
legs occasionally slip out from under him, also. We have limited his walking.
X. Not their normal perky selves? He wants to be, but he is confused as to why
his back legs won’t cooperate.
