My long haired dachsie Ted is such an amazing dog. He first went down two years ago with a herniated disc. The specialist said his only chance of recovery was a very expensive surgery. Well i took Ted home crying the whole way. I knew we could't afford the surgery but I was willing to do it if that was his only chance of walking again. I decided to do some research on line to see if there was any other alternatives to surgery. Thats when I found Dodgerslist! I read everything I could on the website. It gave me hope and a step by step guide on how I could help Ted recover without surgery. I was so relieved and excited to find a conservative approach to Ted recovey. I felt confident with all the support offered on the website. Well eight weeks later Ted was not only walking, he was running and just being his old self again. A100% recovery! Dodgerlist was a godsend. Ted had been doing great when he recently went down again, but this time i knew exactly what to do. thankfully seven weeks later he is up and about again and i have Dodgerist to thank for a second time. Thank you so much Dodgerslist for giving Ted not one but two opportunities for a full recovery and helping me every step of the way!!

Linda, thank you for sharing Ted's story. When owners are committed to learning about the disease and the required care, they give their dog the best ever chance to heal. You did that! Kudos to you... you know how to live with this disease! We are so very glad our resources made such a difference for Ted. We'd like to ask you to help us, help another. If you have time periodically check in on the "Conservative" section for anybody needing support or a bit of guidance. Do you have our free packet of literature to hand out to your vet? I keep the business sized cards on me to hand out at the post office, waiting in line at the grocery store, sitting at the dentist office.... you just never know when you'll strike up a conservation with the owner of an iVDD prone breed... short legged and small breed. Here's the link to get your packet of FREE literature...... it is a good feeling to know YOU may have saved a dog from unnecessary pain or loss of life. Go here today and tell Linda to send you a packet: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/litorder.htmAlso please d/l and print our an flyer of introduction for your vet visit. Vets have a very hectic and busy daily schedule. By time they have a breather at the end of the day, the idea to surf to our webpage may have been lost. We depend on each member letting them know how valuable Dodgerslist has been to you... there is nothing better than personal contact! Let your vet know Dodgerslist is a creditable organization by a quick glance at our flyer and a group they will want to jump on the band wagon along with other veterinary professionals. Download and print out our flyer of introduction: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/who%20we%20are%20BW.pdf [black and white] www.dodgerslist.com/literature/who%20we%20are%20Col.pdf

My Grace still isn't showing any mobility, movement etc, except for raising her tail right before pee-pee comes out while expressing. Just started manual after catheter came out after 3 1/2 weeks due to bad UTI with mild case of pancreatitis,( Unknown as to what caused that) had been on low fat diet previous. Started her on Hills RX diet Low Fat GI Restore, hopefully might help. She leaks urine in-between expressions and it will be 4 weeks and 4 days next Tuesday and think the surgeon will take her off crate rest. Is there any kind of option for the leaking? I've tried diapers but they don't stay on. She will be scooting around soon and would like to avoid the leaking around the house, since we just sold our home and have to keep it nice and maintained. Don't want to imprison or isolate her from the house anymore, she needs some freedom! Also she won't drink water but will eat. I had to start mixing water in her food, since don't want her back in hospital due to dehydration. Anyone out there with suggestions iin that regard as well ?? Thanks, Gracie'smom
