Well after 6 1/2 months and 3 separate episodes Slinky is making wonderful progress! He is walking ( a little wobbly on uneven surfaces) but has made tremendous progress! He is running and playing even though I make him use his wheels when we are outside. He has adapted so good to using his wheels, there is nothing that keeps him from being the dog he once was. Because of having so many episodes I am being ever so cautious about how much he is able to do without his wheels. It has been 3 1/2 months now since his last episode and seems finally like he is on the road to recovery. I can't thank this site enough for all the support and encouragement I have received the past few months. For all the ones just starting out with their precious dachsie's never give up hope!!

Wonderful news Shelley. Slinky had a rough go, so it is double good news that he is walking and enjoying life now. What therapies are you doing. Any home water therapy in a child's pool or underwater treadmill at a rehab clinic to strengthen his legs and fine tune the art of walking? www.dodgerslist.com/literature/watertherapy.htm
