No significant updates, but my calendar came today!! It's lovely! We tried Xanax for her travel/ separation anxiety, and it just ramped her up more, so we may try Prozac next. We've been three weeks off rehab (I'm having some health stuff), but we start back on Monday for another 6 sessions. I ordered a DoggoRamp for the bed so we can stop moving the one ramp we have back and forth. She's been really good about using the ramp and she's getting a little better about being able to hold things until she gets outside to tinkle as long as we get her out exactly every 3 hours. Hope all is well with everyone.

Alix, thank you for letting us know you received the Annual Dodgerslist Calendar and it pleases you!! We work on the background artwork much of the year and when all the cute dog faces are finally plugged in in the Fall, it really makes our day to see so many of our Dodgerslist family all in one place. If anyone has not yet seen the calendar, please your eyes by clicking on this link: www.dodgerslist.com/store/previewcalendar/Excellent to hear Gretta is OK in using her ramp. Let us know how you like the "DoggoRamp" as other may be interested in your review too.

gretta has been doing really well, but she is doing flamingo leg more than usual today. It's with her hip dysplasia leg where she does flamingo leg sometimes anyway, so it could be that it's not a disc episode, but we're going to treat it like it is one for now and call the vet in the morning.
He gave us a 10 day course of all of her IVDD meds during her annual, so I'm not sure if he'll have us bring her in or just treat it as if it's a disc episode and give her the meds then see where she is when we taper.
Just thought I'd update since I'm here. ❤

Let us know what the vet thinks: disc or hip. Very much appreciate the ramp review on DoggoRamp and the Dachramp Lite here: dodgerslist.boards.net/thread/867/ramps Always good to hear how a products works at home vs. just looking at a picture in the ad.

❤ Thanks, Paula.
gretta's foot swelled up this morning, so I think we are lucky this time and it's not back or hip (or a luxating patella - I was kinda worried about that one, too). She's got an appointment on Thursday in case the swelling doesn't go down, but for now we're trying antihistamines, vetericyn and I'm going to see if she lets me do a salt soak next time she wakes up.
Cautiously breathing a sigh of relief.

It is good new that Gretta's symptoms were not IVDD related but signs of something less serious.
Please keep us updated on how Gretta is doing.

Update: The swelling resolved into a cyst, and the vet drained it, noting it as cystitis and cellulitis. He prescribed antibiotics (Clavamox) and anti-inflammatories (Carprofen/Rimadyl) and epsom salt soaks. I'm giving her Pepcid because of the NSAID and adding a little yogurt to her food for some tummy probiotics and so far things seem okay tummy-wise. I'm not seeing much improvement on the cyst itself, but the swelling is gone. She really does not like the soaks, but she tolerates them (because she's a good girl!) and then is mad at us the rest of the night. 😅
Follow up is the 16th.

gretta is doing great. ❤ She occasionally bypasses the ramp getting off the chair (and instantly loses ramp privileges), but never from the bed. She surprised us few weeks ago hopping up onto the couch!? So now we block it. Just when I think we've reached her peak healing, something new happens. The only meds she's on are allergy meds. She's still up and down with continence issues, but mostly she's good about going outside or getting to a puppy pad unless something scares her. Our groomer retired, and there's no other in walking distance, so we are navigating the nail trimming issue - she seems to be okay if I only do ONE a night and she gets treats after. 😅 I put her up an ex-pen so we can play ball and I don't have to worry about a chain hurting her back.

Just thought I would like to thank you guys for the extra years gretta had running around and being a a very happy good baby thanks to your advice and support.
She passed tonight unexpectedly from non-IVDD related issues and I’m absolutely broken and going through pictures videos to hold on to any bit of her. I was just watching a video of her running around from a couple weeks ago and thought of how lucky we were to have these last five years of zoomies. ❤

Alix, how touched we are your taking time to share your sadness in loosing Gretta at this heartbreaking time for you.
She's been a part of the Dodgerslist family for many years since 2018. We also feel your pain that another health issue than IVDD shortened her life last night. Gretta has been such an inspiration to new members to see that dogs with IVDD can live many happy years with their family. Even as a senior girl she weeks ago still had the zoomies! What a lovely and happy vision that is and how I shall remember your sweet Gretta.
Sending you and your family warmest of ((hugs)) and my condolences on the loss of Gretta.
