OMG! WEDNESDAY is our graduation!!!! My poor Bills has had 9 week crate rest, technically, since I started counting when he started his acupuncture which was 1 week into his injury. He is doing well and within the last week showed another 1% of improvement with his neuro-deficits so he's at 99%!!!! I'm so proud of my baby boy~~~~~~
I just need to have him not rush everywhere and slow the (bleep) down! I can't wait to ramp proof around the bed so he can sleep with me in bed once again!!!!
I think he'll get another batch of acupuncture next week but I'm going to stop after that. I stopped seeing results after the last couple of times so I think it's time.
Wish me luck!

Yvonne, sounds like Billy has done a very good job of recovery neurologically!!! Lot of good ideas to make your home back friendly and how to start a program of slow introduction back into physical activities after graduation. Check out the far right column for those articles: www.dodgerslist.com/literature.htm#afterrest How about a graduation picture for Wednesday? Upload JPG to the gallery and then paste the URL (address) in your post. dodgerslist.boards.net/thread/260/upload-photo-dog

Wonderful news, Yvonne! Congratulations! He's done so well. And yes, please take it slowly once he gets out of that crate. Both you and I need to slow our boys down! I had a long talk with Mr. Jeremy last night and told him things were going to be different when he gets out of that crate. No more charging around like he's two months old! I'm so very happy for both of you.

LOL! I tried to have a talk with my Billy boy but he couldn't sit still long enough. Ha ha ha
As excited as I am, I am soooooo worried if I will be able to keep him in slow mo. He broke out last night while I was fixing his ToeGrips and darted up the ramp that I bought for the bed. Going the speed that he was going I don't know if the ramp is going to do the job it's supposed to! LOL!
Nonetheless, I am super excited! Like Paula said, I will post "freedom" pics tomorrow!!!!!!

We are two days away from the half way point. I'm jealous of you and Billy! I'm trying to remember to say that we're half way done, not that we're ONLY half way done.

LOL! For me, until I got to the halfway point, it was TOUGH! I lived my 8 weeks one vet appointment at a time and one pred at a time since we started tapering. If I started the countdown looking at it from a 8 week point of view, FORGET IT! =) Like you said, you're halfway done! Yay~~~~ (((hugs)))

Congratulations!! I know at times it seemed impossible but you made it to the end. Now just take it easy there, Billy! I was just looking at this page on Dodgerslist getting ready for Jeremy's graduation in two weeks and it's a VERY gradual process after crate rest. Not much activity recommended at all for the first week or two. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/AfterCrateRest.htm

I just uploaded two pictures of my baby boy but I don't see it yet. I'll post the URL in the post later when I see it. =)

Omg billy is ADORABLE!!! Just read your post about the couch..and yea..pillow thing didnt work well for us either. Do you have a big couch? Been spending more time in the bed because we have it railed off so he can't jump. Not sure what to do about the living room..we have a huge L shaped sofa..ugh..maybe sell living room set and get bean bags? Lol. Too bad I am half serious..lol. Now that Fred is doing well hubby thinks he is fine and I am being overly protective. MEN...they just don't get the mama in us. Glad you guys are doing well and look forward to your updates Big hug for you and Billy!

Thank you so much sweet Stacy. After that couch incident, I now have the x-pen I used for his crate gating off the couch. LOL! What a sight!!!!! Oh, and you do not even want to see the make shift barrier ALL around the bed except for the ramp. Ha ha ha Homeless person central!!!!!!! And I keep the bedroom super cool during the night so that Billy won't go off of the bed during the night. I'm sleeping with layers of clothing on! Oh the things we do!!!! Hey, it works. Tee hee hee
Hugs to you and Fredster~~~~~~

Super late update: August 15 was Billy's official last vet appointment! The doctor saw how well Bills is and has suggested that Bills does not need any more acupuncture. I was super happy because I don't remember a vet ever saying my dog does not need something from them! Ha ha ha And... The biggest moment of win for my baby boy was when he peed... ON ONE LEG!!!!!!! He can't always do it but they are becoming more few and far between when he can't balance. Yay!

Thank you Sabrina (the human) and a belly rub for you Charley (the dachshund). So funny how us dog parents get so excited about excrement or the manner in which it was delivered. Lol!!!
