Hello again everyone. Buddy is still doing well, balance is improving and his leg strength is getting better. I do have a question though. The website says to avoid stairs or use ramps, but unfortunately I cannot do that because I live in a third floor condo. Does anyone have suggestions for stairs, keeping in mind he's a 70 pound lab lol. (We're not doing stairs yet, weeks away from that but need some help for when we do.)

Tony, glad to hear of the good progress! The solution with our small dogs is to carry them on stairs. I just do not have a solution other than to move to the first floor… no elevators there?

Paula, No elevators, amd I cant just move as I bought this place in 2007. Perhaps I should rephrase the question, should I help him with stairs like with a sling or towel or let him do it himself if he can?

eddieswheels.com/help-em-up-harness/ Hi Tony, this harness type is fairly easy to use and can work really well for steps. I think that Jude has one for one of her Rottweillers, and can better advise you. Check out their website, it is full of great info I would think that it would be a very good idea to support him on the stairs to decrease the risk of re-injury. Hope this helps a bit

Hello all, just a quick update on Buddy he is doing very well. He is not having any pain, is going on walks regularly and is a very happy dog! Thanks again to everyone who supported me during that incredibly stressful time. Yesterday he made his first attempt at running which I managed to record, enjoy!

Buddy runs like my Jeremy - with a bit of a hop! He surely is a happy dog. Thanks for sharing the video with us - it's very encouraging to others going through this. I just read through your postings and I'm very glad that Buddy has made out so well. All the best to you both.

I have some unfortunate news that I need to share with you. After coming all the way back from his disc problems, Buddy was diagnosed with a prostate tumor which was interfering with his ability to pee and poop. At the time of his diagnosis, I was told he had two months to live but he only lasted about 8 days, as he completely lost his ability to pee and after 3 days of bringing him in to have a catheter put in twice a day, there were no signs of improvement and the alternatives were a 3-5 day catheter but the tumor was so large they couldn't get past it. Beyond that there were 2 different surgeries which cost 2000 and 4000 to help him pee, but even those surgeries and chemo his chances of surviving much longer were low because the tumor was growing fast. So I made the decision to put him down on Nov. 16, he went very peacefully with me at his side. I just wanna thank all of you here for your support and advice that gave me seven more months with him, it really was a bonus as he could've died back then. He was my best friend and I wanted to share a tribute video with you all I made for him.
