ok I have a 7 pm update:
she ate another 12 ml vile of food to include some pumpkin that I mixed up in there, she pooped again and YEAH me I was able to make her pee... shs still seems a little weak. but I can see a little more spirit coming back, she chews on the syringe while I dispense the food from it.
Question by being in crate for so long do they tend to loose some muscle in their front feet?
and her poop is runny now, I am just grateful that she is finally eating. boy clear one hurdle and go right to another.
Thank you for your support

So glad she's eating and showing an interest in the food by chewing on that syringe! Maybe tomorrow morning you could first try some dry kibble out of your hand just to see if she'll take it, if not then do the syringe. Try again each meal until she will take her regular food from your hand. Then at some point you'll have to teach her to eat from her bowl again as the princess will have become used to the hand feeding. :-)
Yes, indeed being in the crate can cause them to lose muscle tone. Generally you notice it in the large muscles of the hind legs first but you can see it anywhere and can ultimately see it all over the body. This is something we work on in the rehab phase after crate rest is over.
The pumpkin can help with either diarrhea or constipation...fiber is great for the bowels. But in moderation, too much will cause diarrhea for sure so limit it to about a tsp per day. If she's having accidents in her crate keep some unscented diaper wipes handy for clean up so you don't have to bathe her.
As for the tail wagging, there can be reflexive tail tremors with pooping. Keep an eye on her and see if she does it under any other conditions such as when she would be happy or excited. Watch for a true wag versus a shaking or tremble motion as this would be more definative also.
Hang in there, you guys are doing so great. She's a lucky dog!

Our little girl bonnie, has crossed the bridge to doggie heaven today. she was crying all last night and this morning. we took her to our vet , he looked at her and told us that it didn't look good and that she was in a lot of pain. as soon as I came home I knew something was wrong she had terrible twitching and labored breathing. and the dr confirmed my worst fears. her pain was transcending up her spine. My wife an I could not see our loved bonnie in the pain that she was in. we let her see her beloved brother and we said our last I love yous and let her take the wonderful journey where pain is no more and the field are all full of flowers and tiny treats that she so dearly loved. Thank you for all your love and support, I am not leaving just taking off to reflect
THANK YOU AGAIN

Howard and Shawna, I'm so devastated this morning to read about Bonnie. My heart aches for you and swells with admiration on your doing the right thing but the hardest.... the gift to release her from from Myelomalacia. There was nothing you or your vet did to cause it. This disease, myelomalacia, can follow on the heals of any spinal cord injury and when it starts it progresses rapidly in a matter of hours. You can read more about this disease here: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/Myelomalacia.pdfYou will always think of Bonnie, she will always be a part of you. Over time you will learn to cope better...your mind and Bonnie will help you to move to the lovely times you shared, the times she made you laugh, her funny ways and amusing antics. Choosing some sort of action can help during these grieving days. On behalf of Bonnie a legacy of helping to educate about IVDD. Ask Linda to send you a free packet for your vet and business sized cards to hand out wherever you see owners of IVDD prone breeds. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/litorder.htmThere is a lovely website called the Dachshund Memorial Garden where you can pay tribute and even place a photo. Many touching poems to help in this time of grief: www.dachshundmemorialgarden.comJoin a pet grief group for support: www.dailystrength.org/c/Pet-Bereavement/support-groupMost of all love will help you through this. Godspeed, sweet Bonnie.
With deepest sympathies and warmest of ((hugs))

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Bonnie will always be in your hearts. Try hard to think of memories of her in good times and know that you did all you could and you made the only decision that could be made. You were strong for her and you were there for her when she needed you most. A love and a bond that will always be in your hearts. Prayers for you while you grieve for Bonnie.

Shawna and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for all the wonderful thoughts and prayers your gave us. A big hug from our entire family to yours. WE are coping the best way we know how. To remember Bonnie in all the things she did to make us laugh and smile about. We have her Twin brother (if dogs can have twins) Clyde to look after. I do have a question...those of you with multiple dashhounds. Clyde has been moping around and sniffing for bonnie ever since she passed. He whines and whimpers. People have told me that We need to get him another sister. We never want to or can replace Bonnie with who she was. but I don't want Clyde to be without a partner to take care of. I know this is off the topic we have here, I was just wondering if anyone would mind sharing their opinion.
Thank you again
Howard and Shawna and Clyde

If you are ready, perhaps you can get a new pack member.i'm sure Clyde is grieving. Would you want a puppy? Or thinking about adopting a rescue? This is something to carefully consider. You'll never replace Bonnie, but I think you have lots of room in your hearts for another when you feel the time is right. We have three doxies and they are marvelous company for one another!

Thank you Sally,
I love your picture. that's how bonnie and clyde would sleep, and that's why I am trying to wonder if another Dashhound would help him and us. Clyde is two years and has a long time to go. Replacement is not what we are looking for. My wife Shawna has taken this very hard. bonnie was such a little dog she was like the children we never had. I think the idea of another dashhound would give her another life to nurture. The everyday joys of having a pet. scooping poop, no no don't pee there, who upchucked on the couch. Then the nights in bed were everybody is fighting for the best position. waking up with a small butt in your face. Interrogating everybody on who passed gas in the sheets.
Thank you again everybody for your kind words and thoughts
Howard and Shawna and Clyde

Howard, I can see there is another one in your future very soon. I think that is wise. I lost mine about 3 weeks ago. I've always had one for more years then I'll say. It is very lonely and very quiet now without a dog. They always do better with two. I always found two were really not any more trouble then one.

Howard, this is just my personal opinion, but pets do grieve. I do believe that Clyde will do much better with a playmate, as soon as you feel comfortable. You will be surprised how much it will help you and your wife through the grieving process too. You will NEVER forget Bonnie, or replace her, she will forever be in your hearts...but when your ready...
