Rusty herniated a disk late friday/early Saturday morning. He went for good to bad in just a few minutes. I took him to an emergency vet, who immediately told me take him in for surgery. I wasn't sure this was a necessary option, so 2 hours later we went to visit our vet. He is more conservative and open to alternative methods. He said that unfortunately I had no other options with the severity and suddeness. He needed to go IMMEDIATELY to a specialist for surgery. It has been 24 hours post surgery and Rusty is doing GREAT! Yesterday he was wagging his tail, not able to pee on his own yet but signs were good. Today He has voluntary motor function and peed on his own! He is walking, or trying his best to, with assistance. Poor baby won't eat. But we are going to visit and bring him some food that he likes. Vet says hopefully tomorrow He can come home! Then the work really begins.
