I would like to take a moment and say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! YOU WOMEN ARE WHAT GOT ME (AND LUCY OF COURSE) THROUGH THIS!!!!! No matter what the future holds I could not have done this or done what I needed to do for Lucy with your help!!
Question: Since I read somewhere early on not to bathe Lucy...she has gotten pretty stinky, lol. Can I bathe her now? Even before she hurt herself I would bring her in the shower with me and bathe her while holding her and hand her off to hubby. I think I'll be double checking stuff with you guys for some time...

Katie, have you been using the unscented baby wipes on her. It should be alright to bathe her but if it were me, I'd still be a little afraid. I would give her some freedom first and see how she does. Dogs like to do that "wet dog shake" and you'd want to be 100% sure that disc is healed before she attempts that.

Lucy is doing so well!! She is walking so much! Not too much of course but her legs are getting stronger and stronger every day. Walking in the grass seems to be the best. Too bad we have wood floors...she can't walk around the house. (I don't let her). Just wanted to update! I can't believe she can walk again!!!

We have wood floors too - I went and bought some inexpensive area rugs and runner carpets. Looks a bit crazy but really gave Stevie good footing while she got stronger. Her accident happened when the rug in the kitchen was moved to be cleaned and the floor mopped. Now we have an extra rug to switch out and leave no floor bare.

This is a video of Lucy today. She's walking good but still looks like a hunchback. She kind of hops a little like a bunny. Nothing seems to give her pain but is it normal for her back to be like that? I'm thinking hopefully in time it will straighten out more but it's as if she's so used to it being like that it she won't put full source on her back so she uses her front legs as if they were back legs...we are keeping her in crate whenever she's not with us. She has so much energy she wants to run around like a new puppy! Would it be okay if I put a ramp on the bed? I know she's not supposed to use one yet but she's so rambunctious that when she gets excited it looks like she will fly off the bed and I'd rather her use a ramp if she's going to make a sudden leap. We obviously try very hard not to give her that option but she's so hyper!!

Is it normal for her to still have a hunch in her back? Will that go away over time? Could we start using some ramps from the bed to the floor? She's still doing good and loves being back to her old self.

The hump should go away in time. Glad to hear she is continuing to do well and enjoying being back with the family.
Do start a training program to teach her to use ramps. If she is like mine, a few refresher classes with treats periodically will always be needed to reduce sloppy habits of taking a short cut off a ramp.
Post a picture of your ramps so others can see what you are doing.
