Hi all! Cleo is flourishing, she just had her second laser treatment. The nice physical therapist also showed me how to massage her back legs, and how to get her to put her feet more under her body so that she is not putting as much strain on her back.
I added a tiny bit of raw food to her daily meals, and her tummy is still perfect. She is off all meds now, and only taking two supplements that were prescribed at the rehab center, a glucosamine and condroiten tab, and a supplement called Ligaplex. I am not going to increase the raw food amount until we are off of crate rest.

So yesterday I had Cleo in her crate and she was just great as always. I left for about 10 minutes, and when I came back there was a hole in the netting on the side of her crate and she had her head stuck in the hole. The hole was just big enough to get her head into, but she was stuck. I about had a heart attack.
She is fine and I have repaired the crate, but now I am not leaving her alone for a minute. I also have a different sturdier crate that is in our bed and she can be in that one with no problem. Either she chewed the hole from the inside, or (this is my strong suspicion) Auggie and Peggy chewed the hole for her from the outside. These dogs are too smart and I am prematurely aging from the stress of trying to stay one step ahead of them! Lol

Wow, somebody is a little devil and fast! Any of the soft-sided products or strollers with netting enclosure do have to only be used when you are there to supervise. Glad to here you have no observations Cleo hurt herself/her disc!

We graduated today! Things are going very well, Cleo went back to the rehab center last week and the vet said she could really see improvement in her gait. I see it too, since the laser treatments and the exercises (we are doing leg lifts and gentle stretches) Cleo is walking with her back legs underneath her. She looks better than she has since before her surgery last year! Cleo is slowly getting reintroduced to the living room. I have carpeted it now, so no more dealing with area rugs. I think that Cleo will always sleep in her crate in our bed from now on, because she seems to love it and I sleep better knowing Cleo is not going to "wander" while I am asleep. I already have enough issues with the other two dogs in our bed who get into minor territory disputes if they happen to meet under the covers. Thank you again to everyone who has helped and encouraged us. You will still be seeing me around the forum since I think what you are doing is so important and I want to help when I can.

Stevie, kudos to completing all 8 weeks of rest for Cleo.... you have given her disc an opportunity to form strong scar tissue. With your slow introduction to back to physical activity you know she won't be overdoing things too early as dogs are wont to do.
We LOVE the idea that members want to stick around and pay forward to new members just starting a scary journey....thank you we look forward to seeing your posts.
