Hello.
My name is LaShae and I am Bruno's mom. I witnessed my baby get hit by two cars last night. He will be paralyzed in his hind legs and will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair the part of his spine that was fractured. It will also alleviate his pain and prevent further damage. I came to this site because I heard that the support for animals and families of animals with disabilities is phenomenal here. I want to hear about your experiences with your little angels that have something special about them and I would also like to express what it is that Bruno is going through. He has given me three years of love, loyalty and absolute joy. I want to give him the same and more. I look forward to talking to you all. You have my support and may you and your little ones feel nothing short of love, joy and kindness.

LaShae, welcome to Dodgerslist. I'm so sorry to hear about the horrible accident. Hoping that there is enough of the spinal cord intact that nerves could have the chance to self heal over time…that would be a wait and see thing. In the mean time after his post op crate rest period is over, it is in the cards for Bruno to get back to enjoying all the things he did before with the assist of a wheelchair if necessary. Let us know how the surgery goes when you know more. In the meantime you'll have lot's of questions come to mind. It would be helpful to jot them all down so that in the excitement of discharge day you get answers for everything. This short list will help you get yours started: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/dischargequestions.htmDr. Isaacs goes over the things we all have wondered about post op: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/surgery.htm#discharge

Hello everyone. I just wanted to update you all on Bruno's recovery. In December of last year, he was hit by two cars and left paralyzed in his hind legs. He is doing great now, using his cart and being the same happy guy that he has always been. As some of you may have experienced, the day-to-day care of a pet with paralysis is very rewarding. I could not possibly love him any more than I do. I am fundraising to pay for his vet bills which have now totalled $7k. If you can check out the link and donate, I would GREATLY appreciate it. It would mean the world. Thank you all.
