Hello everyone,...made it over!
BTW Mae's surgery was actually 1/27, I adopted her four weeks later on 02/24!
Are our old posts going to move with us? I would love to be able to continue following some of these sweet puppies!

Glad to see you here with Mae. You will recognize a lot of members from the old Yahoo List...so you will be able to follow their stories here.

Thanks Paula. It is nice to watch the progress of these sweet puppies. Mae is doing great. She did have a UTI that we had to treat, but she is now running around the house and all over the yard. She is still wobbly, but doesn't drag enough to have any skin breakdown! My question now is that she still has occasions when she wets in the floor and frequently poops while she is walking!! I'm not sure how much of this is a neurological problem or how much is a training issue? She seems to have a BM when I'm holding her and rubbing her back, or 5 minutes after coming back inside she will be walking along and poop!! I notice that she has trouble squatting when she is outside, she tries, but usually falls,..maybe this is interfering with her going outside? We will keep working on it, I just don't want to scold her if she can't help it.

Jeani, it sounds like Mae does not yet have full neuro function back to fully control the bladder and bowels. Are you still expressing her or doing an express check after you see her potty on her own.... to verify she can really void all the urine... to avoid UTIs. To avoid the poop accidents, I would just express for poop 2-3 times a day.... about 30-60 minutes prior to when you are seeing poop just falls out. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/Expressing.htmWith warmer weather are you doing some water therapy to help strengthen and retrain nerves and muscles to work together a $10 child's wading pool makes a good PT device. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/watertherapy.htmSince Mae has graduated, I will move her thread to the update section where new members can follow Mae's progress and be inspired to know these sweet little dogs can get back to enjoying life after a disc episode. This tag and other great products from our store help to support Dodgerlist education activities. www.dodgerslist.com/store.htm

Thanks Paula,...I haven't been expressing, but I did watch your videos so I will ask the Vet to help me during our next visit. I'm not sure where you are that you have "warmer weather"!! It was 34 and sleeting on my way to work this morning,... Mae is still doing water therapy every day in the bathtub! She loves the warm water and we get to have alone time. Thanks again for your help!
