Now, I don't really know if the diarrhea was caused by the prednisone, because Nathan has it too now. There have been no changes in their diet, except getting a new bag of their food, that they started Saturday. Off to the vet again today

Not a good day at the vet. Nathan is feeling better, but Toni still has diarrhea. They were prescribed metronidazole 250mg, 1 tablet twice a day. I mentioned to the vet about taking Toni off the prednisone. He said he cannot make that decision, because the vet that does Toni's therapy prescribed it. It was followed by a rude lecture that I could've done the laser at his office, but I "chose" to go to the other vet. Ironically, another vet in his office referred me. The truth is, I feel more comfortable with the other vet, but unfortunately I can't switch to him for a year, because I had to sign an agreement. So, I may have to look for a different vet in the meantime. I will call the vet that does the therapy tomorrow to see if he can stop the prednisone, since Toni still has these GI issues.

Oh, my! That's a new wrinkle for me.... a non-compete aggrement you may not use the services of another vet in the same clinic???? What the heck ......??? do you live in the USA or another country?
Let us know what the vet who prescribed Pred says about doing a quick taper ASAP in light of the GI tract damage.

No, the vet that does the therapy is in a different clinic. I had to sign the agreement, so the new vet can't "steal " away patients from our current vet. The reason I chose this vet for Toni's therapy, is that his clinic is closer and they have additional therapies to the laser, i.e.acupuncture, under water treadmill etc. I also like this clinic a lot better and plan on switching my boys to them when the year is up. Btw, I am in NC. I was told to give Toni 1/2 prednisone every other day,for 3 times, which will be Sunday. If the diarrhea hasn't resolved by then, to stop it. If, however, the diarrhea stops by then, to continue giving 1/2 prednisone every other day until gone.

Well, my vet actually dropped us as clients. He was so upset over our having another clinic providing Toni's therapy. I guess, after 6 years, I am looking for another vet. On a good note, Toni has no more diarrhea, and neither does Nathan. Acupuncture went very well yesterday. The vet said that Toni was not exhibiting any pain, just a little tenderness. As of tomorrow, Toni will have completed 5 weeks of crate rest.

Toni just had a bowel movement. It looked almost back to normal. Thank you for checking on him
------ Luckily, he hasn't done anything since last night. I shall see when I get home
