Jared, you are doing an excellent job in caring for Jill. It was wonderful news to hear she can take some steps now. After crate rest is over on Nov 8 and it is safe to slowly begin doing more activity, her legs will continue to improve.
Is she now off of all meds?

You did it, Jared! You gave Jill every opportunity to heal her disc and mother nature and Jill did the rest about healing her nerves. She looks great! Now is a good time to be determining how you are going to ease back into more normal activity at graduation. The idea is to gradually give more freedom under controlled conditions. Not free reign of the house and yard immediately! LOL Take a look at our information and then come up with a plan to gradually increase activity over about a month's time following the end of crate rest. Also check out how to teach four paws on the floor! www.dodgerslist.com/literature/AfterCrateRest.htmAlso if you haven't already to make those home modifications so that you can reduce the stress on her spine in the future. No more stairs, ramps up to furniture, or blocking furniture all together. All those ideas and more are in this link: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/protectback.htmwww.dodgerslist.com/literature/aftercraterest/furniture-blocker300.jpg

Thanks Paulina,
I have done my dodgerslist homework and already started preparing for Jill to get on with her life with the advise of dodgerslist. We already have furniture blockers, we have thrown away the collar, and have ramps built.
I will do my best to help new members seeking advise.

Jared, I'm loving it that you are already prepared for graduation day....good job!! We always appreciate when members want to pay forward to new member. It is fresh in your mind just how scary it is to get an IVDD diagnosis and how overwhelming it is the first week or so. Education about disc disease is our number one mission! We wish we did not have to hear of another dog that was put to sleep because of disc disease nor one denied the correct principles of crate rest to help them heal.
We depend on members to get the word out. If you have a mind here are some other ways to help: -- "Share" our FB posts www.facebook.com/Dodgerslist-- Hand carry our literature to your vets. When in conversation at the grocery store line or wherever you may meet breeds most prone to IVDD (Dachshunds, Beagles, Poodles, Spaniels, Shih Tzus, Pekingese, and Chihuahuas) give out our little cards. Ask Linda to send you a free packet: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/litorder.htmGo Jill!

What an absolutely beautiful video, Jared! Thank you so much for sharing it. This will be very encouraging to other IVDD dog owners. I'm delighted to see how well Jill is doing and how very happy she is.

Jared, thank you for taking the extra effort and time to make a video...pictures are worth a 1000 words!!! Jill is now permanently on our "Success Stories" page: www.dodgerslist.com/monthstory.htmEvery profession depends on it's members growing in knowledge to better do their job through in-service, further course work and years of practical on-the-job experiences. That also includes veterinarians. If there is a chance to help a vet learn with their own eyes, stop by when that ER vet is on duty with Jill and some of our "Crate Rest Recovery Process" brochures and our introductory letter. Not all owners in moments of overwhelming news have the ability to question a professional's advice and go do their own research as you did. You can help save lives by giving the ER vet a chance to learn by seeing that there are two treatments for IVDD and that conservative treatment is a viable treatment in getting the disc to heal and the body a chance with time to heal nerves.
