[Original subject line: Finn's 12/15 Conservative 2/16 Grad (Healing Complications?)] Hey! My name is Amanda. Finn was first diagnosed with IVDD [8/28
dodgerslist.boards.net/thread/9138/amanda-finn-conserv-pug-grad ]. He seemed to be healing but unfortunately
reinjured his back on [10/9]. His nerve damage in his back feet seemed slightly worse, but was still mild [loss of some pain feeling in back left]. After the reinjury,
he didn't heal despite 8 weeks on Rimadyl. My vet decided to switch him to
predisolone after a washout period
starting on [12/15]. He seems to be a bit perkier but I'm having a hard time telling if theres improvement.
I have been super strict about recovery. The only things I think could be improved would be taking him out in a sling, as I have been using a wheeled stroller that goes over some small bumps to my apartment entrance. I am unsure of how much that would effect healing.
I'm wondering if theres any alternative treatments like laser therapy or something that could help? The doctor recomended the next step may be considering surgery if he's a treatment resistant case.

Few accidents from prednisolone
DOGs with BLADDER Carry to and from the recovery suite to the potty place and then allow a very few limited footsteps.
Using a sling (long winter scarf, ace bandage, belt) will save your back and help to keep a wobbly dog’s back aligned and butt from tipping over.
A harness and 6 foot leash is to control speed and keep footsteps to minimum as you stand in one spot.
An ex-pen in the grass is an excellent alternative to minimizing footsteps with the physical and visual to indicate there will be no sniff festing going on!
