[Original subject line: Syd’s Progress Postoperative 7 years ] First of all, thank you for all the support and help I received from your forum when things were so scary and heartbreaking! I still remember the angel who shared with me her dog in his cart went everywhere with the family, including camping. I wish I remembered her name because she gave me hope, when there was little. A little background. Syd is a chihuahua- cocker spaniel mix. When he was two years old he suddenly loss use of his back legs, diagnosed with IVDD and had surgery that was unsuccessful. We wanted to give him the best chance possible and began hydrotherapy, laser treatments and lots of PT. I’m not sure how much the surgery and therapy helped but I do know the best thing we did was to have a cart fitted for him by a company called Eddie’s Wheels. Those wheels made all the difference in not only his mobility but his ability to run and be free, he was his old self again. I am forever grateful! Today Syd, 7 years later, is doing great, he truly does not know he’s different than any other dog. We have a routine every 6 hours that we express his bladder, takes less than 2 minutes. It really is no big deal. He goes everywhere with us, including camping . If anyone has any questions about our care or the postoperative period feel free to contact me!

Thank you very much for sharing Syd's progress with us. He doesn't think he is any different from other dogs because he really isn't. He does what he wants to do, just in his own way. So glad that he is back to being his old self.
