2 years old Female Spayed She is a Dachshund! No previous diagnosis
Iggy has been acting normal overall. She is eating, energetic, playful. The only sign I am worried about is that when I press the side of her spine she has some muscle spasms [when pressed] She doesn’t seem in pain or mind too much if I do this.
Recently (this past month) she’s been more anxious due to a house move. We are now living in a ground floor with a yard so she’s been reactive to people passing by with other dogs.
[MED LIST/HISTORY- Moderator's Note. Please do not edit weight? 2 y.o. name of anxiety med: ?mg ?x/day ]
I have put her now in crate rest with anxiety medicine to relax. She wants to jump, run and play as her usual self. But I’m just too scared.
Am I exaggerating? Could this be IVDD?

Welcome to Dodgerslist. We are glad you’ve joined us all. We’ve got valuable information we’ve learned from the vets Dodgerslist consults with and our own experiences with IVDD since 2002 to share with you! Learn more about us and how we team up with veterinarians:
Is your name Gabby? I am Romy.
The general indications of an IVDD episode are back pain and weakness or other problems moving the legs.
The signs of pain we look for are; - shivering or trembling - yelping when picked up or moved - tight tense tummy -arched back, ears pinned back - restless, can't find a comfortable position - slow or reluctant to move in suite such as shift positions - not their normal perky interested in life selves If a neck disc: - head held high/ nose to the ground - looks up with just eyes and does not move head and neck easily. - not eating due to painful chewing or in too much overall pain - holds front or back leg up flamingo style not wanting to bear weight
From your report, Iggy is not showing any of these signs, nor is she showing signs of neuro issues like trouble walking. However, IVDD can only be diagnosed by a vet. If you are concerned that she might be having an IVDD episode, you are doing the prudent thing by starting Strict crate rest. No jumping, running or playing at this point. She should continue on crate rest until or unless you get a diagnosis from the vet that it is not a disc episode. Here is some information about how crate rest works if it turns out Iggy is having an IVDD episode: dodgerslist.com/2020/05/14/strict-rest-recovery-process/
Here is some information about emergency symptoms and the immediate actions to take in the event Iggy's symptoms progress: dodgerslist.com/2020/02/24/emergency-faq and dodgerslist.com/2020/02/24/emergency-treatment-options/
You can print the information on the above page and put it on the fridge or somewhere else where you can easily see it.
Let us know what the vet thinks about this.
