With the last dose of Losamel today and he is licking his lips still, do you see other signs of GI upset such as not eating normally, any vomit, loose stool?
Have you changed from 3x/day small feedings to something different? Changed his food?
If there are any concerns, do check with your vet.

Will do. I've noticed he is now trying to cover his poo with his back legs which is great. He is also trying to hump anyone who sits with him which is not like him at all!!. Any thoughts on this new behaviour? It must be so hard to adjust to this strange new way of life for him

Adjusting to a new way of life can be stressful for a dog. Humping may be a sign of stress for Rocky. I think it would be best to try to distract him when he does this.

Hi. I had Rocky back at vet today. This morning he had vomited in his crate and it was brown and had lumps of undigested food in it. He had several more vomiting episodes after this and it was yellow bile then. The vet gave him an ✙ anti vomiting injection [name?]and ✙ Losec [omeprazole]. 20mg half a tab daily as well as half 10mg ✙ Maxalon [metoclopramide] twice daily if needed. [Moderator's Note. Please do not edit 16lbs 4 y.o. JRT ✙ name of anti-inflammatory vomit injectiontion Losec [omeprazole] 10mgs 1xday ✙ Maxolon 5mgs 2x/day IF NEEDED I read one of the side effects of the anti inflamatories could be anorexia?. Rocky is so hungry but slow to eat now. Its so worrying to watch him get weaker when the surgery was a success.

Siobhan, at the time of using any anti-inflammatory drug, it can cause extra acids to be produced. Extra acids can cause a dog stomach damage.
The anti-inflammatory Loxicom was stopped on May 27. The signs of GI tract damage do start with nausea, not wanting to eat, vomit, diarrhea, stomach ulceration, black or red blood in diarrhea.
So there appears to be some other cause of vomiting since Rocky is not on any anti-inflammatory drug currently.. Ask your vet what he believes to be the cause of the current vomiting so you are educated in his thoughts.
Please do read up on all meds your dog may take or is taking so you are prepared to know the adverse side effects to be watchful of. Not familiar with Maxolon as members have not reported their vet using it. Are you sure the spelling is correct?
Are you back to feeding small meals?

Hi. Maxolon is also known as Metoclopramide. It is an anti vomiting tablet. The vet gave me Royal Canin tinned wet dogfood for dogs with gastrointestinal problems so I am going to start him on small spoonfuls of that tomo several times a day. He did recommend getting his Bloods done too. I think a lot of it could be stress related Rocky is very anxious and it's been a hard 3 weeks for him. He is very active and not happy with crate confinement at all. How long can I keep him on Losec? The vomiting could also be from hunger if his stomach is empty. vomited again this morning 10th June . But food was whole so is it regurgitation?

Siobhan, learning what the root cause the vet believes is making Rocky vomit it key to knowing what the right treatment should be. A blood panel may reveal good information for the vet.
Losec [omeprazole] is an acid suppressor. Depends on what the diagnosed cause of vomiting is and if acid suppression would be the correct treatment for that disease. There are many diseases, issues that can be the cause of vomiting but each could have a different treatment course.
Here at Dodgerslist, we only know one disease (IVDD). We are reluctant to offer counsel on things we are not knowledgeable about so as not to cause harm. It is concerning to us as it is to you for sure all this vomiting. Please keep us posted on what your vet's diagnosis is and the name for the most likely disease/issue causing Rocky this problem.

Hi been a busy time but since last update Rocky spent 3 days in vets on a drip to flush out his stomach and get valuable nutrients into him. A side effect of the Losec is vomiting so vet stopped all meds and since his return home he is nearly back to himself. Blood work was clear. He is still licking his lips a bit but is eating normally. Poos are fine and his mobility is much better now that he is stronger in himself too. Last week of crate rest and I'm wondering if I have to reintroduce him gradually to freedom or just let him off. Many thanks for your help Graduated June 30, 2021

Good news that Rocky is almost back to himself. It is important to introduce Rocky back to activity slowly. We have information about back friendly activities and a sample schedule here: dodgerslist.com/2020/06/15/back-friendly
