Phyllis, It just means its wasn't his perfect home. It is out there and I really believe the right home will come soon.

Time for a celebration! Todd was adopted today by a wonderful family who loves dachshund rescues! It was an emotional family that shed tears of joy when Todd arrived! The Dodgerlist DVD and other literature was added to his folder of documents for the new adopters!

Congratulations, Todd!!! Whooohoooo! I'm so very glad for that boy! That family will be so blessed to have Todd the miracle dog in their lives. And tons of blessings to you, too, for doing so much on his behalf. You've been a true inspiration.
Prayers for a long, happy, disc-free life for Todd.

Dachshund Rescue of Houston rehabilitates an IVDD rescue and succeeds!
Todd was surrendered by his former owners in July 2013. He was in really poor shape. He was taking medications for seizures and had been for years, a liver medication for high liver enzymes, and he was 'down in his back'. He was unable to walk, wag, pee or poop! But that's where his story gets miraculously wonderful! DRoH's vet was committed to giving Todd a chance at recovering. Within a week of coming into rescue Todd was standing on his own. He was treated with steroids, pain meds, strict crate rest and multiple laser therapy treatments. Within 2 weeks, Todd was able to take a few steps on his own! Within 3 weeks, Todd was being weaned off of his back medications. Within 4 weeks, Todd was weaned off of his original seizure medicine and switched to a new seizure medication and his liver enzymes were responding. Within 5 weeks, Todd was off all medication except the seizure medication and able to walk completely normal. Up until his 8th week, Todd spent his entire time in a crate (minus potty breaks on leash) We were allowing his back a full 8 weeks to completely heal! After week 8, Todd was allowed out of crate! He has done wonderful out of crate and now moves 100% normal.
Todd was adopted on Oct. 12, 2013! His new family received a DVD with Dodgerslist information. He's loving his new family and thrilled to have a new forever home!
