Hi! I'm sure yall remember Roger. I decided I'm going to take him with me to abilene instead of kenneling at the vet. I already found the number to thr emergency vet there.Hopefully nonothing will go wrong. Hes been doing good. I just worry about the four hour car ride and him being around children, but I will probably keep him in his cage if kids are around. I'm still not sure what is best..but..I wish I knew someone I could trust to watch him.

I have transported several IVDD dogs. I found a memory foam pillow at one of the discount stores. It is the curved one to support a human neck and it does a great job of craddling a dog in a crate for travel.

Hi Melissa, I completely understand your fear about leaving Roger in a kennel. I also refuse to leave my dog in someone else's care (other than my mother) because I can't trust them to know what they can and cannot do with an IVDD dog. We know when our pups are with us, that they will be safe. You are smart to keep Roger in a crate while children are near. A crated dog is a SAFE dog. It might help you to search for a reliable pet sitter. You can check petsitter.com or other similar sites. Have our DVD on hand to SHOW them so that they can learn what IVDD and what they can and cannot do with Roger. Could give you enough peace of mind to trust someone to watch him: www.dodgerslist.com/store/DVDorder.htm
Hope your trip goes well. Best wishes, ~Lisa

I just used a twin sized memory foam topper, and cut it to the right size for the crate.

Just wanted to update you on Roger. He has been doing very well. His leg and tail still arent the same unfortunatley. He just got one of his shots and did very well. He also lost one pound. I switched him to the blue buffolo dog food for weight control. He has jumped on the couch a couple of times and my heart almost went into cardiac arrest. But all in all no episodes or concerns lately.
