We loved UC Davis neurology department (ER dept we weren’t happy with). I cannot recommend them enough! I’m sure any veterinary school is a worthy investment. They have multiple people looking after your pet (students and teachers). And they were significantly cheaper than the original place we went (VCA SF Veterinary Specialist, $12.700).
State: California
Hospital: UC Davis
Address: 1 shields Avenue Davis, CA
Cost: $6,800
Date of surgery: 2/6/2019
What was included in cost (MRI?, days stay, ER? PT? meds for home, sling, etc.) Comments:
ER exam Ultrasound xray mri laminectomy anesthesia tranquilization various meds complete blood count pt transfer and consult icu and regular hospitalization stay (3-4 nights. Admitted to ER about 10pm so technically 4 nights) sling

We were very happy with the care Biscuit got at Sage Veterinary Clinic in Campbell, California, for her IVDD surgery. We chose them specifically because of their neurologist, Dr. Christina Vitale (whose bio said she had a "deep love of dachshunds!). We knew going in it would be expensive, but were still kind of shocked when it came time to get the debit and credit cards out. Still, glad we went there for sure. Our other option was SF Veterinary Specialists and I'm 99% sure they would have been more). State: California
Hospital: Sage Veterinary Clinic • Dr. Christina Vitale
Address: 907 Dell Ave. • Campbell, CA 95008
Date of Surgery: June, 2019
Cost: $7500 for surgery and followup • $2100 for MRI
What was included: exam, all surgery costs, overnight stay, meds for coming home, follow up appointment; MRI was separate cost (see above)
