Hi there - my 6-1/2 year old dachshund RoyRoy had surgery this summer and just graduated from bedrest.
State:Massachusetts Hospital:VCA Weymouth Surgeon: Dr. Devin Berthiaume MS, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology) - can't recommend him highly enough. Address:595 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA 02190 Cost:$6,500.00 Date of surgery: 7/8/18 What was included in cost (MRI?, days stay, ER? PT? meds for home, sling, etc.) The price included MRI, Surgery, 3 nights stay, meds, sling, followup appointments (I think there were 4). Comments:This surgery came 1/2 year after a bout of IVDD (Fall 2017) which we treated with 8 weeks bedrest and meds. He had a good winter, then had a small showing of discomfort in April and I went back to carrying and bedrest. Then in July he started showing signs of problems one day and woke up lame the next, which was the day of surgery. He was recovering well, then relapsed almost three weeks later. We followed than up with 8 weeks of bedrest, which he graduated from 9/21. Now we're on modified bedrest - still penned most of the day, but using the ramp down the back three steps. Yard walks, always and forever on leash. Furniture is all blocked off so he can't jump on it.
