Too bad Tyler and Polly can't call each other on the phone and commiserate.

Great news that Tyler is off his meds and is pain free. I'm sure that's a huge relief for you. Grumble away, little Tyler, it won't get you anywhere with your mom! She's doing what's best for you.
Hope both Tyler and Rosie eat for you today. Have a good one!

I'm such a forum dork that I just saw this! I'm so sorry to hear about Tyler... How is he now?
My kids are finicky eaters too. So I cook for them and use it as a topping on their dry kibble and make my own dog treats. Even that doesn't go by on some days. Billy wants me to spoon feed him. (WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT?!?!?!?!?!?!?) Cheese worked for him. Thank goodness SOMETHING did! =)

Hi Stacy and Yvonne! Thanks for the reminder, ladies... Well we are 3 and half weeks into our 8 weeks of crate rest and Tyler is doing very well. I have cuddle toys in the crate with him and he is mellow as can be.. He is eating much better now, thank goodness. Tomorrow Neil's 10 year old grandson gets here and will be staying until Sunday. Tyler will be excited.. It's going to be hard to keep him calm while Cody, who has ADHD, is here.. Neil wanted to take Tyler for a boat ride and I put my foot down and said no boat rides, he's on crate rest for 5 more weeks.. Neil thinks I am over protective.. and won't listen about what we all know to be true..

Now Neil, listen to Pauliana - she knows what she's talking about!! Wonderful to hear that Tyler's doing so well. I know the difficulty of keeping our doggies calm when grandsons visit. My 3-year-old grandson is calm but Jeremy gets so terribly excited when he comes. He loves that boy. Enjoy your visit with your grandson.

Hey, there, Fred's dad - please get with the program! I hope he understands now, Stacy. It's just not worth the risk. These dogs are faster than we think and it only takes a moment for them to get hurt again. I know YOU understand that. I hope Fred's dad does, too, now.

Thank you Nancy, Jen, Marjorie and Stacy! All is quiet here.. Tyler is doing well on crate rest. There was lots of excitement when grandson Cody was here for the weekend 12 days ago and it was hard to keep Tyler calm but we got through it.. Cody was a good boy and paid attention to him gently while he was in the crate.. He's a good kid.. 19 more days until crate rest graduation.. Thanks Marjorie for the pep talk to Neil and also to Fred's Dad!. We had to go into town to do laundry today and he stayed in his recovery suite surrounded by his favorite comfort cuddle toys.. He has all his toys from puppy days onwards.. He doesn't chew them up, he likes to possess them and cuddle them.. He treats them like his prized treasures.. Hugs all around..

Kathy, Deb and Stacy,
Thank for your the healing thoughts and encouragement.. Tyler is doing great.. He was thrilled today, Neil's son Trav and his girlfriend Tammy came for the day and part of the evening and they got in the recovery suite with him.. We made it temporarily bigger for them to visit with him and then made it the regular size afterwards..He wanted tummy rubs..
He'll be graduating crate rest on Sept 9th.. time is marching on..
Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!

Hi Sabrina, Nancy and Maureen! Tyler wants to know if midnight is too early to be let out.. LOL I told him that's bedtime in his sleeping crate where he likes to sleep.. he was not amused. As soon as we get up in the morning.. He's doing great and rarin to go! Will ease into activity and of course keep a close eye on him. Not hard since he is always with us.. Rosie kitty is missing and the cat attacking dog is loose.. Naturally it's dark out and I can't see anything even with a flashlight.. Brett has been over here looking for Blue. I was in the side porch with Rosie and we heard something step on a branch, she did her deep growl ran out her cat door. ( I wish she understood that the enclosed porch is safe, big dogs can't get through her door) Praying she didn't run right into trouble. Hope Brett finds Blue before something terrible happens. It's too quiet out there.... Afraid to carry Tyler out there too. He needs to potty.. Happy excited and worried, all at the same time.. Edited to add that Rosie is back but very nervous and we did manage to carry Tyler outside to potty. Neil came with us, and we went out front instead of the back yard that faces out towards the river. Blue tends to hang out down by the river if he gets loose..42 steps down. Hugs to all!

OK, Tyler, morning has come and graduation day has arrived!! Congratulations to you and to your mom for doing a marvelous job! Pauliana, I truly understand the happy, excited and worried all at the same time feeling. Will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best. PS - What on earth is a cat attacking dog doing wandering around loose?! Did he just get loose or is he allowed to wander?

Thank you Marjorie, Maureen and Sabrina! Tyler was happy to be out and about and just took it easy, laying at our feet. He enjoyed taking every single toy out of his toy box and he has LOTS of toys. He chose several to play with and guard. I put some of them in his recovery suite with him during the 8 weeks and he always has one cuddle toy to sleep with every night in his sleeping crate.. Nah, he's not spoiled. LOL We took some very short walks and will be building his strength as the days go on. He has either an allergy, yeast infection or something in one of his ears. He's going to Purdue Small animal clinic tomorrow to get the ear checked out. He won't be pleased about that at all.. Other than his ear he is content to snuggle with Neil's feet. Shih Tzu's love feet. Marjorie, The cat killing dog, Blue got out of his enclosure in their yard. He escapes once in a while and it's always nerve wracking when he does...Tyler and Rosie aren't safe when he's wandering either..Brett and his wife have gotten calls from us and our neighbor Carol when we see he's running loose.. Carol usually spots him and calls me.. Hugs all around..thanks for all your support during these 8 weeks..
