My long-haired doxie named Joey had an IVDD episode and had emergency surgery for a herniated disc two years ago when he was 6 yr old. Joey has days when it seems like he moves slower than usual, but he is now able to wobbly walk and wobbly run!!! Again, it has been two years since Joey had his surgery and he continues to improve even if it is just "baby steps." For the first time just this month, he was able to run and retrieve a toy before his brother Sam gets it first! So when the vet tells us that it may be a long process of healing, please be patient...Joey is now an 8 yr. old happy, active boy!

Welcome to Dodgerslist! My name is Pauliana, what is your name? So wonderful to hear about Joey's improvements in the two years since surgery. That just goes to show that while nerves can be slow to heal they do heal with time and patience and great care! Please stay in touch with us and keep us posted on how Joey is doing.. Always great to have a veteran of IVDD here to encourage the ones that are just starting this journey! Be sure to check out our website as there has been changes recently.. Lots of info there that you and Joey can benefit from as he continues to heal! www.dodgerslist.com/healingindex.htm
