Learn the details of post-op rest with surgeon directed PT which will be instrumental in your ability ensure good disc healing and with time allow nerves to self-heal. Get speedier help! Provide answers to these questions:
☀︎1-- Which breed? What is your dog's name? Your name too? What country if not United States? ☀︎2-- How much does your dog weigh? ☀︎3-- Is the surgeon a general practice DVM or a specialist surgeon (ACVIM neurology or ACVS)? ☀︎4-- What was the date of the surgery? Are you now doing 100% STRICT crate rest 24/7 only out to potty and only for surgeon-directed supervised PT? No laps, no couch, no sleeping in bed with you, no scooting or dragging around during potty times. No chiro (aka VOM)? ☀︎5-- What did your surgeon direct for PT (always a supervised, eye-ball to eyeball controlled therapy)? ☀︎6-- How many weeks did the surgeon want for crate rest including his directives for supervised and controlled PT? ☀︎7--Is there still currently pain - shivering, trembling, yelping when picked up or moved, reluctant/slow to move head or body, tight hard tummy? Full pain relief is expected in 1 hour of pain meds and stays that way dose to dose. Your vet needs to know asap to adjust meds if there are pain signs.☀︎8-- Please list the exact names of meds currently given, the start date, their doses in mgs and how often you give? ☀︎9-- Currently can your dog wobbly walk? move the legs at all? or wag the tail when you do some happy talk? ☀︎10-- Do you find wet bedding or leaks on you when lifted up? Review tips on poop and bladder expressing. Ask for another expressing lesson if need be. Bladder expressing is a health issue. ☀︎11-- Eating and drinking OK? Poops OK - normal color no dark or bright red blood? Press the <back arrow> on your browser to go back to the "Surgery" page where you can then create a thread for your dog
