Vet: Dr Righter Hospital: Court St Vet, Keene NH
Dr Righter did not do my dog Cookie's surgery, I was referred out to a larger hospital, but he has taken over her follow-up care and dealt successfully with her complications with her bladder...
When she had a recent episode of hurting her right rear leg (we still don't know what she did to it), and I was afraid she had a back relapse, he treated her as if it were a relapse, wanting to err on the careful side, had me put her on crate rest...but the whole time he told me he thought it was simply a leg injury that would heal on its own. We did predisone, pain meds, laser treatment and crate rest...and he was right--she was fine in a few days.
He also worked with me closely on a different dog I had, a dachshund puppy that I adopted from a rescue that got sick the very next day with parvo. We lost her, but he worked hard to save that puppy. (The whole litter died, each had been sent to a different adoptive home)
Of note is that this vet took in an unwanted dachshund that went down in the back. Her elderly owner was going into a nursing home and the family brought her in to be euthanized. Instead he talked them into giving her to them, and treated her with conservative treatment and she made a full recovery. (All the way from no deep pain sensation) He than found a loving home for her.
He is very knowledgable, doesn't do un-needed things, and has on more than one occasional done a quick check of one of my dogs for no charge when I had a question.
