I have a question, my beagle has IVDD and he has just came off crate rest a few weeks ago, it's been about 11 weeks. One thing I noticed since the injury is that his tail is curled and he does not wag it. Is this permanent or will it come back in time. Not sure if he has nerve damage there.
Thanks

Hi Sandi, tail wagging (to exciting things) is a neurological function. Have you seen him wag his tail when there is a knock at the door, or when you talk to him excitedly or give him a treat? If so, that means nerve messages are being able to travel through the spinal cord to the tail.
Can you tell us more about Shiloh? Does he have bladder control? Can he walk?
Neurological functions can continue to improve for up to a year or more. It took my dog 11 months to walk again after his injury. Some dogs stand up a week into treatment, and others, like my dog, require a much longer time.
We look forward to hearing more about Shiloh. Best wishes, ~Lisa
