hi, my 6 year old mini long haired dachshund dai bach a sausage had 2 slipped discs on october 24th, vet said if he's not better in 2 weeks he wasn't going to get better, he had metacam for 7 days, i put him on a herbal joint & mobility powders a week after it happened, he was crated for 8 weeks, only out for toilet breaks, food & water, it's 8 weeks today and he's back to normal, i was letting him have 5 minutes in the hall since week 6, building it up, i slept on the sofa with him in the play pen because he barked and got stressed if i left him for more than 10 minutes, then week 6 i put him in the carry crate in my bedroom and he's now back sleeping in my bed. i have a pet stroller for him, i got it before his back went as he tired easily while out on walks so it was easier to use the stroller.

Welcome to Dodgerslist, Sianrees! Thanks for sharing Dai Bach's story of recovery. Your Vet was certainly uninformed about how dogs can recover even if they don't show progress in two weeks. Good thing dogs don't take comments like that seriously and get better anyway.. The only thing I would caution you about is making sure he has a ramp up to the bed and make sure there is no way he can jump down from the bed. He could easily get hurt again if he does jump down.. Here is an article about how to make your home back friendly: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/protectback.htmHere is some information about how to ease back into life after crate rest is over. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/AfterCrateRest.htmThanks for sharing with us.. Continued well wishes for Dai Bach!
