-- surgeon direct for post-op rest? 4 weeks and then follow up with surgeon, possibly will need 6 weeks. -- His PT consult is this coming Friday 7/16 ☆ 7 He has bladder control. ☆ 8 Yes he can wag, he walks relatively normally now. He had lost use of both his back legs prior to surgery. Onset was very quick, 6/23 we noticed pain and rushed to emergency vet. Emergency vet recommended rest. 6/24 he was unable to stand/walk, went to his regular vet who sent us directly to the veterinary school at the university 2 hours away. He came home 6/28 and since then has been walking relatively normally when we let him out to potty but legs have been weak. Before today he has been his normal self, mad about staying in crate, wants to be able to run around but we have been keeping him in the crate and giving Trazadone or calming treats when he gets too upset.

Welcome Stacey!
When you saw signs of pain: shivering, trembling, yelping when moved, restless, head held high or was it nose to the ground, what was the name of the pain pill given?
Some of the above signs can also be signs of anxiety for which traZODone would be used as an anti anxiety med.
It could take about 14 days for all of the surgery caused pain subsides where a pain meds would be in use. Do you think the signs you reported are anxiety or painfulness? IF pain call the surgery clinic to report.
Which University Veterinary School did the surgery?
Is there anything in particular you could use some comments or assistance with at home care?
PT At home did the surgeon say the at home PT could be the walk to and from the potty place? Or do you carry him to and from the potty place?
