Does my dog have any health issues to prevent use of Pepcid AC (famotidine)? (doesn't need it, we wait til there is problem…are NOT answers to your question!) Yes-- Is the vet a general DVM or a specialist surgeon: ACVIM neurology or ACVS ortho? Using a sling (long winter scarf, ace bandage, belt) will save your back and help to keep a wobbly dog’s back aligned and butt from tipping over. A harness and 6 foot leash is to control speed and keep footsteps to minimum as you stand in one spot. An ex-pen in the grass is an excellent alternative to minimizing footsteps with the physical and visual to indicate there will be no sniff festing going on!  ☆ 8 Wags tal and wobbly walk left leg moves better than right.

Welcome Cathy! Lola is a good candidate to heal her disc under conservative treatment and with time very likely self heal her nerves for a more normal gait. It is YOU and becoming knowledgeable about IVDD that will be instrumental in Lola's success. You will be amazed with yourself how quickly you can know a lot about one disease. Be aware not all vets can possibly know each and every disease in depth for all the various species they treat (hamsters, birds, dogs, cats, farm animals, etc). While waiting on some missing important information that allows us to best help, I can see some things to address soonest you can. -- Let us know when you have Pepcid AC on board (contains one active ingredient-FAMOTIDINE). Be proactive with Pepcid AC and be watchful for any red flag signs appearing: Dogs don't speak up at first signs of trouble like a person would. By the time we notice, nausea, vomiting, loose stool and black or red blood from a bleeding ulcer, things can quickly go from bleeding ulcers to a life threatening perforated stomach. The usual dose of Pepcid AC (famotidine) with a disc episode is: (0.44mg famotidine X dog's weight. Given every 12 hours.) Buy at the grocery store. FIRST do ask your vet in this very, very particular way: Is there a medical/health reason my dog may not take Pepcid AC (famotidine) e.g heart murmur? Doesn’t need it, we wait til there is problem…are NOT answers to your question! QUESTIONs - - Has Lola been on very STRICT rest 24/7 in a recovery suite since being diagnosed 1/11?
-- Have you been carrying her to and from the potty place and then very limited footsteps for her to take care of business?Please ask for how many day more Lola will be on Carprofen?
