[Original subject line:Post-Surgery, Just the beginning] ☆ 1 No pain, he does seem to be straining his neck trying to stand. He is comfortable and resting now. ☆ 2 17 lbsPrednisone 5 mg started 11/13/2020 He is on Gabapentin 100 mg BID for painHe is on Prilosec once a day Not interested in normal food, very interested in treats and soft food. Not pooping currently, the vet said his peristalsis would be affected and that this is normal for the first week after surgery. ☆ Mini-Dachshund by breed, but his parents were both over 10 lbs. ☆ 5 Yes, IVDD, but disc rupture. Surgeon☆ 6 conservative tx: 11/13/2020, surgery date: 11/14/2020 - conservative doesn't work for a rupture -- post-op rest? 6 weeks -- Start home PT 3-4 times a day, potty breaks [expressing] every 2 hours, water breaks every hour. ☆ 7 Thor has no current deep pain sensation, which isn't unexpected, he has no bladder control. I just learned how to properly express his bladder. ☆ 8 No walking, and he had tail wagging until this morning.

Welcome Katherine. Is Thor back home Sunc 11/15 after a surgery yesterday Sat 11/14? What are the details of the meds the surgeon sent Thor home on? Prednisone ?mgs ?per day? Gabapentin 100mgs 2x/day Prilosec ?mgs 1x/day Are you finding dose to dose of gabapentin, there are no signs of pain surfacing? How is expressing going today. Does he stay dry session to session. Does he leak on you when lifted or are you finding he has overflowed in his bed by finding urine there?
