Sorry to hear your doxie has been showing progressive signs of a new disc episode for a couple of days which has today progressed to no longer walking.
Do know in your heart many a dog has healed their disc with conservative treatment. And with time just like after a surgery, a dog can often heal their damaged nerves all on their own. There is no surgery, no meds which heal nerves.
No vet who knows IVDD with reported not walking would tell you to wait for treatment for 17 more hours!
Hours matter to get an anti-inflammatory drug on board NOW, today by going to ER if today's vet will not Rx over the phone With not walking most vets will choose the most powerful STEROIDS such as Prednisone and not the lessor class — a non-steroid (NSAID).
So we have the ability to comment specfiically for your dog rather than generalities, Please supply a complete medication list of what is given today.

BLADDER CONTROL
If lost, Killer will leak on you when lifted. You will find urine leaks in his bedding.
If he has bladder control, he can wait til you carry him to the potty place. He can sniff an old pee spot in the grass and choose to release urine there. That is the proof of bladder control.
Carry to and from the recovery suite to the potty place and then allow a very few limited footsteps. Using a sling (long winter scarf, ace bandage, belt) will save your back and help to keep a wobbly dog’s back aligned and butt from tipping over. A harness and 6 foot leash is to control speed and keep footsteps to minimum as you stand in one spot. An ex-pen in the grass is an excellent alternative to minimizing footsteps with the physical and visual to indicate there will be no sniff festing going on!
** KNOW YOUR ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS to be able to speak up for Killer:
dodgerslist.com/2020/04/18/steroids-vs-nsaids/ ---
PEPCID AC (famotidine) is a must with any anti-inflammatory drug! Proactive vets don’t wait til there are
RED FLAG signs of
nausea, not eating, vomit, diarrhea leading to serious bleeding ulcers, red or black blood in stool due to the extra stomach acids anti-inflammatory drugs cause.
Pepcid AC (famotidine) blocks the production of acid. The usual dose of Pepcid AC (famotidine) with a disc episode is 0.44mg mg per pound every 12 hours. Pepcid AC has a very limited potential for side effects.
Ask if your dog has any health issues to prevent use of Pepcid AC (famotidine)? (doesn’t need it, we wait til there is problem…are NOT answers to your question!) If you get a “no health” issues answer, then go to the grocery store to purchase over the counter Pepcid AC containing one single active ingredient (famotidine).
ROADMAP to the STRICT 8 weeks of rest with conservative treatment -- Do not take any dangerous detours even if a professional tries to give you well intentioned but harmful advice. Be able to recognize it and say no thanks to harmful advice.
-- Make sure all members of the family are engaged in avoiding danger exits for Killer's disc. Teach them. Point out the 4 orange bars (the 4 phases of healing). Point out how long each phase takes to heal. Which phases will need meds and which phases Killer will heal on his own.
