Angie, we are really glad you have joined us . First place killing your dog because they have a disc episode is not a treatment. Do we kill people because their legs don't work? Heck no! PLEASE, please relieve your mind of death, and start getting up to speed on disc disease so you can protect Riley from those who want to harm him. Many dogs do heal their disc and many have gone on to also self-heal their nerves with time. This treatment is called Conservative Treatment (medicines + STRICT rest + time) to decompress the spinal cord. You can learn the important details between a surgical procedure to decompress the spinal cord and treating under Conservative Treatment. Knowledge IS the power to fight this IVDD enemy and WIN! LINK to read: Surgery vs. conservative information: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/healingsurgery.htm QUESTIONS: Are you in the UK? What breed is Riley? To wrap up, if for whatever reason (dog's health, financial, etc.) surgery is just not an option, then conservative treatment IS the best option! With conservative treatment, all discs receive the same care, so an MRI is not necessary to know exactly which disc. The MRI is a planning tool for the surgery. No matter which of the two valid treatments (surgery or conservative treatment) you choose we stand by to support your an your Riley Bookmark a thread to receive an email alert when someone has replied
