Ella's Introduction ☆ 1 pain?Yes, without her Carpofren. ☐ reluctant to move much in crate such as shift positions or slow, ginger movements ☐Not their normal perky selves? ☆ 11 lbs A.. Carpofren 25 mg split in half 2x a day. C.. PEPCID AC: No☆ 3 -- Eating and drinking OK? No nausea/not eating, no vomit? None [Moderator's Note. Please do not edit weight? 3y.o carprofen as of 4/10: 12.5 mgs 2x/day needs GI tract protector, Pepcid AC, on board w/carprofen! ] -- Poops OK - Yes ☆ 4 Ella, 3 year old Long-Haired Miniature Dachshund. My name is Lisa. ☆ 5 Did you specifically get a diagnosis of IVDD, aka: ER vet said x rays showed possibility of calcification -- We then went to a neurologist who put her on Carpofren and said she wasn't ready for a 3k MRI just yet, but if she didn't get better with crate rest and stopping Carpofren to come back. ☆ 6 CONSERVATIVE treatment?4/10/20☆ 7 bladder control- Yes ☆ 8 She can wag and walk slower than normal. She is just super lethargic. How long is normal to crate rest and Carpofren? I feel nothing is improving. I have already spent $2k and seen our regular vet, an ER vet, and a neurologist and still feel I have no answers. Thank you so much in advance!

Lisa, I'm not understanding Ella's treatment. Do you have the neurologists exam report to scan and let us see? The written report may quickly help us to understand what is going on. What date did you go to the neurologist? What date did carprofen start? What date(s) did carprofen stop? How much does Ella weigh? What meds did the other vets prescribe? History with dates, exact mgs and frequency of meds given provide a full picture for us. Did you and are you still doing crate rest to let the disc heal? 100% STRICT rest? STRICT means: - no laps - no couches - no baths - no sleeping with you - no chiro therapy - no meandering at potty times. Carry your dog to and from the recovery suite to the potty place and then allow a very, very few limited footsteps. Reluctant to move IS pain, why are there no pain meds on board? Tramadol, methocarbamol and gabapentin?
When you reported current pain recently what action did the vet take to help? There is a usual way carprofen would be used during a current disc episode. After reading you may better understand why we think we do not yet have the full picture about Ella. You may be able explain more to us. Here his the info on how carprofen is used with a disc episode: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/healingsweling.htmThe guest board is a temporary Guest courtesy to get immediate help until you can register.
