I hope the cart will encourage those legs to get moving, Eric. Let us know how Callie does in the cart. My Jeremy loved his. I'd adjust the cart so his feet were just touching the ground to stimulate movement but when he wanted to go faster, I'd put his hind feet up in the stirrups and Jeremy ran like the wind! I actually had more luck getting him to walk again by sling walking. With the sling, I could ease up on the sling and let him hold his full weight at times when he was standing still. I also did the exercises that Dodgerslist recommends for many months following his surgery and I think those helped a lot, too. You can find those here: www.dodgerslist.com/literature/massagepassiveexercises.htmContinuing prayers that Callie will soon show signs of movement.

Hi ladies. I haven’t posted here in many years regarding my dog Callie. She was paralyzed after a disc incident about 7 years ago. We lost her last week and I wanted to see if you had any recommendations to donate her Eddies Wheels wheelchair. ShE was about 40 pounds. Thank you.

Eric, here are some places you can check to donate Callie's wheelchair. I hope this will help you. Check back, others may have additional information. Eddie’s Wheels Donation Program eddieswheels.com – This is an unofficial program that Eddie’s Wheels is happy to explain. When people donate a cart back to them, Eddie’s Wheels holds onto the wheelchair for dogs in financial need. If you contact them be prepared to take specific measurements of your dog. Eddie’s Wheels will then do their best to match your pet’s needs to a cart in their inventory. The people at Eddie’s Wheels are perfectionists so they won’t release a cart unless it will work seamlessly for your dog’s height, weight and medical condition. That might mean waiting for the right cart to become available. Eddie’s Wheels will then refurbish the wheelchair for a nominal fee and donate it the family, rescue group and even veterinary practices. Owners are also asked to pay for shipping. Red Flyer, The Handicapped Pets Community – Red Flyer accepts used wheelchair donations, refurbishes them. Red Flyer works with non-profit Rescues. Contact phone can be found in the "About" tab on the Red Flyer Facebook Page. www.facebook.com/RedFlyers/ Saying goodbye can be beyond difficult. Celebrate her life! As you continue life’s journey you will come to see all the gifts Callie left for you. All the wonderful days of happiness, all the doors of opportunity opened for you to meet people, all the quiet peaceful times you spent together. Now Callie lives in your heart forever. May she soon bring you smiles again, as you think back on all the funny antics and all the years of joy. My sincere condolences.
