no current stomach prtoection on board! --- Pepcid AC] ☆ 2 Mixed breed/ not sure, mini
poodle/ Westie mix is our best guess, guessing about 10 years old. We’ve had him 4 years.
☆ 3 IVDD diagnosis from regular vet
☆ 4 Pepper’s recovery has not gotten off to the best start. First saw vet 8/29 when Pepper was suddenly yelping and limping, vet suspected back pain prescribed
Rimadyl and methocarbamol. 9/1 seeming worse, sudden yelping and
jumping up in crate. returned to vet, Pepper stayed for two overnight, added gabapentin. Vet suspected sudden pain was from pinched nerve. 9/6 went back because no improvement, still pain, not eating. Stayed in hospital two nights,
switched to steroids,
gave stomach protection to switch from Rimadyl.
Came home yesterday. Seems better compared to on Rimadyl. He’s eating now. Mostly he seems comfortable enough, but will
still randomly yelp and jump up. Not as intense as previously. Do we need to go back to vet again?
Vet said if steroid did not work it would be time to consider surgery.
☆ 5 - Occasional
yelps of pain are still occurring. Vet said she suspects pinched nerve is causing pain. This is the hardest part right now. When he is
between med doses and suddenly yelps and I feel like there is nothing I can do for him absolutely heartbreaking.
☆ 6 Yes, can walk, some tail wagging.
☆ 7 Yes, bladder control, yes squatting.
☆ 8 Eating and drinking OK? Eating ok since switched to steroid, diarrhea yesterday. Vet gave ok to give metronidazole. No poop since then.
This is seriously so hard and stressful, please tell me there is hope for my poor little pup. The past ten days have been absolute misery.
