I am wanting to purchase insurance for my 7 year old service dachshund who has shown a few issues with her spine. What is the best insurance to purchase to cover possible surgeries in years to come thanks

Chris, welcom to Dodgerslist. Insurance is generally for the unexpected and unknown. You are betting that your dog will have an unknown health issue and the insurance company is betting your dog won't. You already know your dog was born with IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) if she has had some disc episodes in the past. Therefore many insurance companies will not insure for the known disease. There is, however, a company for higher premiums who may insure your dog, off the top of my head I'm not recalling their name, right now.. An other idea may be to self insure by starting a regular monthly savings program now. Some dogs will have multiple episodes while others may have only 1-2 their entire life. If she never has another episode, you can enjoy a nice vacation! Check out these two links for more information about covering IVDD surgery and therapies used with IVDD. ~Compare Pet Insurance Companies "A Vet's Guide To Pet Insurance" www.pet-insurance-university.com/compare_pet_insurance.html~AARV has a summary of pet insurance coverage for rehabilitation services, current as of March 2017: www.rehabvets.org/_docs/AARV-Pet-Insurance-Summary-030117.pdf
