Dr. Noone DVM, DACVS with Veterinary Referral Surgery was great! He took so much time and care to explain all of our options to us from conservative routes to surgery, risks of each, etc. After all of the information provided, we opted for IVDD surgery and we are so glad we did. Dr. Noone actually discovered three ruptured discs upon doing the surgery. He even does a procedure on the remaining discs to remove calcification to ensure the remaining discs don't rupture later on. Our little dachshund Cookie was back up and walking within only a few short weeks and she's gotten better and better every day since then. Now, only a few months later, she's acting like she's a puppy again. You can't even tell she ever had surgery and she has more energy than we've seen in years. We absolutely recommend VRS if your dog needs to undergo surgery. They have multiple office locations so you can go to whichever is most convenient for you. They also have physical therapy options (under-water treadmill) should your dog require a little more after-care. The surgery was around $6,000 and our pet insurance, Nationwide, paid for $4,000 of the surgery costs. We were lucky to have gotten Cookie pet insurance before she showed signs of IVDD or it would have been a pre-existing condition not covered by insurance. We also visited Busch prior to going to Veterinary Referral Surgery. The facility and people were nice but the quote we got was $10,000 to $13,000. Scary expensive! We love our dog and would do anything for her of course but we were so glad to find an alternate place that was just as great for a more affordable cost. We also looked into UGA but their reviews have not been so great lately and it scared us. Highly recommend Veterinary Referral Surgery with Dr. Noone!!! veterinaryreferralsurgery.com

To piggy back off of this, we also went to Veterinary Referral Surgical Practice. Our surgeon was Dr. Narak, who is their DVM, DACVIM Neurologist and actually serves on the ACVIM-Neurology Specialty Exam Committee. She is also a founding member of the Veterinary Neurosurgical Society, and I believe she's head of the society in Georgia. So that being said, she is the ultimate definition of qualified for these types of delicate, intense surgeries.
Our surgery cost for Bentley without insurance was $7,000 (which included the $2,000 MRI). They are a referral-only board-certified surgical practice and do not do simple veterinary medicine. Furthermore, they have a fantastic physical rehabilitation facility built right into the place, so it's essentially a one-stop shop for these kinds of injuries. Their staff is incredibly kind and helpful, they call with updates 2x/day, have an overnight doctor everyday during the week, and are super patient with you in regard to questions, concerns, etc. Only downside was that they close the office on the weekends after Saturday morning & on holidays, so if your pet has surgery later in the week like ours did, you'll have to pick them up Sat morning and bring them home for the weekend, and simply bring them back Monday morning.
But all in all I honestly couldn't have been more thankful for this practice being so close to us in Roswell. Their vet techs literally love your animals like they're their own, and we felt like he was in the best possible hands with them with anything he needed done. Cannot recommend this practice more!
