It has been awhile so I thought I would provide an update. Trixie seems to be gaining alittle more strength and steadiness on her front paws. Alittle. I came home the other day and she was standing on all fours and barking in her crate. No have come home to this 3-4 times. No idea how long she is doing it for but it seems like a good thing. She has also turned herself 180 degrees in her crate---facing front to facing the back. She also has expressed interest i playing with toys. I will hold her up on the carpet floor and let her squeak her fav toys, move it a few inches, and let "walk" to it while I hold her. She doesn't last long but I feel it is ok to do for a few minutes. As for the review of the above mentioned bed [The Ultimate Healthy Pet Bed by www.facebook.com/ultimatehealthypetbeds/app/251458316228/ www.ultimatehealthybedding.com/I am using the inner layers in the bottom of her crate. On the occasion she has to pee, the urine immediately seeps through the material and goes to the plastic tray of the crate. This way she isn't sitting in urine. It is machine washable and dries quickly in the dryer. I am also lining the crate tray with a pee pad hoping that it will lock the urine. The inner layers that are part of the bed aren't something you can just buy, or at least I can't find a source anywhere else. I plan to buy a couple more of these as backups. They originally come with a cover but I found it wouldn't allow the urine to seep through fast enough, this defeating the purpose. Also because the layers are textures, I think it gives Trixie some gripe when trying to move around.

Very nice to hear that neuro progress is being made... it can be a slow process. Thankfully Trixie is going in a very good directions of healing! Thank you for the review on the The Ultimate Healthy Pet Bed by www.ultimatehealthybedding.com/Are you doing some range of motion and massage for her leg to keep the joints flexible, help to maintain bone strength by standing and keep circulation up in the muscles? Some Ideas plus check out the water therapy at the bottom near the PT video. www.dodgerslist.com/literature/massagepassiveexercises.htmHave you checked into some water therapy at a clinic such as under water treadmill... Please stay in touch on how Trixie is coming along!

Marcie, thank you for uploading this photo. Lovely to see she can stand up!! My appologies, I somehow lost your large size photo. Would LOVE to have this picture for next year's calendar. Trixie would be such inspiration to those just starting a scary journey. Would you re-upload the photo, perhaps give a one or two sentence caption that tells what an extraordinary milestone this photo represents? Again sorry I messed up the big picture. how to upload: dodgerslist.boards.net/thread/2262/put-dodgerslist-photo-gallery-calendar

Yes. I will.
She has gotten even more of her spirit back too. She is very vocal when she wants something, my other dog has taken her fav toy or just wants some attention.

It is with huge regret that I am posting that my sweet little Trixie passed on Friday, April 10th. She didn't eat bfast or dinner and wouldn't keep any biscuits/treats down. I was out of town but I was concerned and she was taken to an ER vet. Vital signs were extremely low and she went into cariac arrest. She had started to become mobile, taken steps here and there. Had even made it across the room a couple of times getting to her doggie bed of choice.
What I can say, is never lose hope, these little dogs are fighters until the end. Trixie was 16 years old and her body just wasn't strong enough. Coming home today was very hard. But I know she is giving all the other doggies heck up there.

Marcie, I'm so sad to hear this. One thing for sure is Trixie had the best mom in helping her during recovery and after crate rest. Their time on earth with us is just too short. Before Trixie crossed, she gave all the best part of herself to you, years of very wonderful memories... may they all soon override that very heart wrenching day and help you to once again smile and laugh over her quirky antics.. Trixie was, indeed, a fighter, never giving up and making very good progress! One of our members, Carmen, wrote beautifully of grieving with the loss of her Josie, also heart. It is the 5 stages of grieving we all must journey though... I think it will help you: carmenhunterhealth.com/1/post/2013/11/the-love-of-an-animalthe-love-of-friends.html Warmest of ((hugs)) to you in this most painful of times

Oh Marcie, I am so sorry! Trixie was a very lucky puppy to have found you in her life. If she could talk to you one more time I bet she would say this:
I know that you will miss me, By the tears rolling down your face. But believe me when I tell you, I'm in a very good place.
I'll always watch over you, of that you can be sure. I'm your canine guardian angel, And my love for you remains pure.
Hugs from Debbie, Rooter, Annie, Nemo & Jack

I'm so sorry to hear about Trixie, Marcie. I'm sure she will be sorely missed. I do hope that your thoughts will soon turn to memories of happier times. My sincerest condolences.
